KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE MY BLOW DRYER RUN!

Brrrr
It is cold a wet day here today and very gray, perfect to be in the sewing room. To brighten it up how about some red? I found these cool vintage juice glasses over the weekend and bought them to use in my sewing room to store small things that are easily lost. I love the pattern and the dots!
How awesome is this vintage scarf? I took ballet for many years when I was young and have always been drawn to ballerinas. These vintage girls are real dolls! I don't know what I am going to do with it but for $8 I decided it was worth it. Send me your ideas. It is made of rayon.
Today I finished machine quilting a quilt that I will show you once it is bound. I also made some more design boards that I don't know how I lived without! The directions have you use hot glue but mine turned into a mess so I used Tacky Glue and it worked well.
Now I have 5 in a few different sizes. You can find out how to make them over at Bee In My Bonnet under tutorials
Do you use a design wall? Second best would be these design boards to keep things organized when you sew your block together.
Off to square up that quilt.

That vintage scarf is fabulous!! The design boards are a good idea.
ReplyDeleteLove your scarf. Since you asked, I think it would be a great reminder of your ballet days if you framed it and hung it up somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI use a design floor! Tee hee hee. Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteWow - what awesome vintage finds! I love the idea of organizing sewing items with the pretty juice glasses! Those design boards are so cute, and you will love using them. That one with the wider border is gorgeous - I'm going to have to copy that idea. Also, the tacky glue tip is a great one.
ReplyDeleteI love those glasses! I'm a total sucker for mid century bar ware. Very you.
ReplyDeleteCute scarf. Those design boards are a great idea - I should make one. I goof things up from the wall to the machine!
Thanks Kelly, I didn't know what the design boards were for! I was thinking, gee, they look a little small for design work... Now I get it. Excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteThe glasses are a great idea for small items. As for your scarf (adorable), I like the idea that TLC had to frame it! The design boards are absolutely charming!
ReplyDeleteThose glasses were a find, Kelly! I've been looking at Lori's tutorial for those design boards for a month or so. Now that things have settled down, they're on my list. Such a great way to organize in-progress work!
ReplyDeleteWell You can just set and pet the scarf... or better yet wear it some time. So pretty. I made up a batch of design boards a couple of years ago for Christmas gifts for out group of ladies. I was not good at all at all with a hot glue gun and not much better with Tacky glue. What worked well for me was making them up using flannel /felt on one side... that metallic silver cloth for ironing on the other side. A bit of batting . Putting it together right sides together turning it right side out and slipping the board in and whip stitching the top closed.
ReplyDeleteI don't see dots on the glasses! I would wear the scarf as is!!!! C'mon, Kelly......jazz it up.
ReplyDeleteLove your vintage glasses! Interesting to see the design boards.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your design boards, Kelly. I just saw someone else on IG showing ones she'd made, and I think I need to do the same. I want them for 12" blocks though, and it looks like I'll need to buy quite a bit of the foam board. Glad you like using yours.
