I have never been a fan of everyone gets a trophy but I have to say each and every comment was a winner!
There is no right or wrong answer and each one was so on point. Quilting can be whatever we want it to be. That is what makes it fun and interesting. I hope you all will continue to do what makes you happy traditional, modern and everything in between!

Wow! + Houston Quilt Market = Giveaway

So last week I went to Houston with my friend Cheryl to help her in her booth for quilt market. This is only open to the trade/shop owners where they buy supplies wholesale for their stores. I think the booth was very colorful and we had a robust market. Cheryl sold out of her ruler Curvalicious with many orders placed as well. The Cotton & Steel booth was awesome! Those are spools of thread in the shape of the heart. It was fun watching them set up their booth. Lots of very young artists having a good time.

The Free Spirit booth was also colorful! What a simple quilt with very specific fabric and color placement, very effective!

How could you not look at this booth and smile? Tula Pink with a very playful booth. Cheryl and Stephanie got a picture with her, I did not......

This is Margit from I think Austria. She made her dress that was so cute! We met people from all over the world.

The collage quilts were a hit with many shoppers. They are by Laura Heine and this mermaid was adorable, her booth was busy!

The Elizabeth Hartman booth won first prize. She had tons of these succulents made out of fabric scattered around her booth in her new fabric line. You know I am all about the succulents now and could not resist these!

Heather Givans of Crimson Tate was my most favorite "rockstar" quilter to meet. She was so charming and adorable......her next line of fabrics are all about books. We loved the fabric with the old fashioned library stamps. You know the kind with the month and date of when you needed to return it. I think it will be a perfect low volume to add to the stash.

Different booths had swag that you could pick up along the way. These are Heather Givans stickers, aren't they cute?

So here is everything I bought. I did not buy the most in our group of 3, but I am not naming names.....

Brand new Cotton & Steel, I loved these 2 the most, there were many to choose from.....

The 3 on the left were from a Japanese booth from CA, we spent a lot of time there.

I scored a brand-new-not-out-yet Tula Pink bundle, it's so fun! It's called Tabby Road.

On the left Heather Givans older line called Paper Obsessed, on the right Mod Corsage by Anna Maria Horner.

Quiltmania is one of my favorite magazines so I got the agenda diary that is mostly in French (that will make it interesting!) and I love, love, love red and green quilts, especially the antique ones so this was a must for my library.

Again not yet out Amy Butler, Splendor and Heather Ross, Sleeping Porch.

More fabric and handles from the Japanese store, I can't remember the name.....

All the pins and magnets collected over the days. Every time we walked past windham fabrics they gave us a hair clip! On the bottom left are Alison Glass tattoos.

If you are looking for some fun funky jewelry you must check out this store.We all bought something and the lady at the store was so nice and helpful. We walked almost 2 miles to get there. That's a story for another day.

So I am going to have a give away........everything you see here, that's a Cotton & Steel bag in the background and some surprises (think fabric). Tell me where you think quilting is headed. Brrrrrrr and a Giveaway!

Jaxon and Cameron 5 months old

It's finally freezing here and we might be getting a big snowstorm this weekend! This picture warms my heart. Look how much they have grown! They are the sweetest little boys. Cameron looks very much like my son and Jaxon looks like his mom's side of the family.

They are big boys now, sitting in their highchairs and eating food. It was fun to watch their faces as they tasted the food. I tried to get some more pictures but they are at the age where they don't hold still so they were all blurry! Colin and Jenny are doing a great job as parents of twins. The boys have been sleeping.through.the.night.for.2months.now! Lots of high 5's for them!

While everyone else is hitting the store for milk, bread and eggs, I am at my local quilt shop making sure I have projects to get me through the next couple of days. This adorable fabric was at The Quilt Block and even though I don't have a little girl in mind, I just could not resist!

It is a panel and has a sorts of fun things to make. Lil Red also has a hood (red of course).

A doll quilt! I love this, complete with a backing fabric. So if you are local, go to the Quilt Block and get yours now before it is gone (610-363-0404). I think they would send it to you to if you live far away.

They have some pretty cute companion fabric too!

I also spied this that will work great with my giant hexagon project.

The Legend of Zelda quilt is coming along. All the blocks are complete and now I have to add the surrounding fabric.

I want to finish it up so I can get back to some other projects. I very seldom just work on one project from start to finish (oh what a surprise!)

Next up is our annual Penn Oaks Getaway. I need to get some projects ready for that too.

Friday's Winner

I am amazed how many of my friends could not figure out which picture was mine! You all crack me up and I enjoyed playing this game for a giveaway. Thank you for all the fun comments, I really enjoyed reading them.

So this was the 1965-66 school year. My hair was in a flip, remember that do? I am pretty sure it was achieved with those pink foam rollers that snapped shut and gave you a rotten night's sleep!
I was wearing a sweater my mom made me and I hated the barrette on the side of my head, but you didn't argue with mom on picture day.
One of our favorite things to do was to quiz the babysitter Rosemary, about the Beatles. She being a teenager knew all about them and was happy to share her knowledge. I remember my mom's favorite record was Downtown by Petula Clark? She would let us play it over and over.

The girls in my class had very classic 1950-60's names.......Carol, Joan, Leslie, Beth, Nancy, Susie, Kathy, Donna, Marlene, Ruth, Theresa, Celeste and Sandra. Many of you thought I was Sandra, bottom row, first girl!

It's Friday Let's Have A Giveaway!

Earlier this summer I was contacted by Triangle On A Roll and asked to try their product and if I wanted, to do a giveaway. They sent me the 60* Triangles on a Roll which is the one I am using in the above picture. It is perfect for a border which is how I thought I would use it. Then this swap came along and I decided I will be designing my quilt using these. It's a Kaffe Fassett swap so stay tuned to see what I am making.

One of the nice things I like is that the directions are printed along the edge of the paper so you can't lose them. I also like that it is one continuous piece so you can cut them as long as you need for your project.

There is even a visual which is good for me! I like pictures.

I also received this ruler to pre-cut your triangles, instead of winging it and having to trim the seam allowances. The roll I chose has 2 sizes to pick, either 3 12/" or 6 1/2".

In no time at all they were cut and I was ready to sew.

So the first giveaway is a roll of 2" finished Triangles on a roll. This roll makes 800!

The second is a roll of Quarter Square Triangles and it makes 300 and they finish at 3 1/2".

Here is my review-----I do like paper piecing as I like somethings to be very exact. The product was easy to use and I like how everything was on the roll, no instructions to lose! I would recommend this product and  can't wait to gt back to my quilt.

In my quest to clean out e.v.e.r.y. single room in my house, I came across a class picture from 3rd grade. That was 50 years ago, I almost choked!
