I am participating in a postcard swap over at The Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap . I made mine yesterday because they are due in 2 weeks. The way time is flying I was afraid I would forget! The recipient of my postcard lives in England! I am not telling her name so it will be a surprise. I am anxious to see what my card will look like.

I Am A Baby Boomer
This quilt is called Yellow Bird In A Blender, named by my husband. I have a hard time coming up with names for my quilts. So I sometimes ask him if he has any ideas, and this is what he came up with! Hey I asked....he said that is what he saw when he looked at the quilt. It is a Karen Stone pattern and I made this
in 2002. It is paper pieced and was not an easy pattern to do. It took a couple years to complete.
What a cool idea on a hot summer day to look at some beautiful quilts. Go over a take a look.
Here is a close up. As you can see every inch of it is paper pieced. My friend Terry did this in reds and blacks. Another friend Cynthia did it in reds and blues. They both were amazing. If I can get some pictures of them I will post them.
I am busy machine quilting my Almost Red and White quilt. Hopefully it will be done today, it is taking forever!

Hotsy Totsy
I am sure everyone is so tired of hearing about how hot it is by now. I stayed in the house all day Thursday and Friday finishing up this quilt. It is for my son Colin's 30th birthday (Jenny make sure he does not read this!). His birth was the most memorable of all my kids because I had him 30 minutes after I got to the hospital. I think he will like this and it looks rather masculine.
I spent about 8 hours quilting it and I am happy with the way it turned out. The lines are very ORGANIC which stands for I can't quilt a straight line!!!
Here is a shot of the back, I forgot to take a picture of the pieced back. I really like the texture and have a tip for you if you are doing straight lines. You have to rotate it for each line of quilting. In other words, quilt top to bottom and them bottom to top, then top to bottom and so on. If you don't it will get all weird on you.
This is what our poor little Snoboy had to deal with yesterday. My husband worked out in it until 4:30 so I can't really complain. One of the best things about this weather is this....
Our first tomato of the year....don't you love the smell of the tomato leaves on your hands when you are picking them? I love it.
Oh by the way if you would go here
http://www.facebook.com/accuquilt?sk=app_162728463796906#!/accuquilt?sk=wall and vote for me that would be great. I could win an Accuquilt Go. Mine is the last one in the second row...thanks!
Keep it cool.

Found
Before I show you pictures of my cleaned up room, I will show you all the things I found that were "lost" in there. These are fabric post cards made by my friend Terry who you read about in yesterday's post. I bid on them at our annual auction a few years ago. I love them and will never send them out, so glad I found them.
Remember these? I think RJR was the maker of the Smithsonian Institute fabric line. For a time when you purchased the fabric you got one of these labels. I don't remember how long ago that was....
A trapunto card my sister in law, Angie made circa 1996. Her first attempt and I am so glad I found this!
A rusty needle with an interesting story....I was sewing in bed and some how the needle was in there....it ended up in my arm while I was asleep....surgery was required to get it out! That is a #11 straw needle people! The xray technician was vey surprised and couldn't quite understand sewing in bed.
I packed up 9 large trash bags in my car and took them to the thrift store.
I cleaned this out and put all the pretty pin cushions in there......
I love this cute little thing, I think it was for candy or some kind of dessert. Now it holds my threads and some other odds and ends......
Here is a view from the door. My design wall is easier to use now.....
My scrap bins are easier to get to and hopefully I will use them more often.....I still need to paint the shelf.
My fabric all nicely stacked...it will never stay that way, but one can hope.
I have the tables this way so I can move them together when I machine quilt. It gives me a much larger space to put the quilt on. It looks weird but it works.
Just to keep it real there is a pile of stuff behind the door.....it is all to be donated to my guilds. It feels great! I am only worried now that I will have no idea where I put everything!

Two little containers that were my grandmother's made in Japan. I use them for safety pins and my snips.

Guild Day
Okay just let me say right away, I covet this quilt! My good friend Terry Kramzar is the talented maker of this gem. She was our speaker today in a very hot room that had no air conditioning. She was a real trooper and did a great job in the oppressive heat.
Here is another, unfortunately I was holding quilts up so I did not get any more pictures.
My friend Suzanne's quilt. She is an applique queen!
And another she is getting ready to quilt.
We have a very talented group.
Ann made this beauty.
Imagine this in red and white!
This was a fun one and I think she was cleaning up her scraps.
We are starting a new raffle quilt. It is going to be mostly applique. These are the 2 patterns I chose. I better get going on them.
Tomorrow I will post the pictures of the cleaned up sewing room.
