KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE MY BLOW DRYER RUN!

Valentine Pincushion

I needed to take a break from my Zelda quilt and make something quick and simple. This fit the ticket.

It goes with the other one I made a while back. I think they are cute and want to make some more.

I also made a test block. I think the reds do not have enough contrast, I want the "X" to stand out. It will go into the reject box to live another day.
What are you working on?

  1. The pin cushions are super cute! Your reject box must be full of treasures. I like the low contrast, but I'm weird like that. ;)

  2. The pin cushions are very sweet.
Today I am sadly not sewing, but instead painting walls.

  3. Adorable pin cushions! Right now I am hand quilting a star sampler table runner with a navy background and sherbert colored stars for my mother-in-law's birthday coming up. I am also still working on the red skies at night sampler quilt that Jodi from Tales of Cloth did awhile back. I'm about 2/3 of the way done, and mine is in old-fashioned blue and white florals. sarah@forrussia.org

  4. Your pincushions are cute and I would want to have a look in your "reject box" ! :)
I'm always working on the "Brinton Hall" and yesterday, I have finished a top with cats in japonese fabrics !

  5. I have been making what feels like a bazillion little yo-yo flowers. They will end up on a quilt top which features lots of pieced baskets, and I envisage a couple or three spilling over the top of the basket to give the quilt some texture and visual interest.

  6. Adorable pin cushions. And for the X block--if you learned something it was not a reject!

  7. The pin cushion fabric is so cute. I'm guessing it if printed? But I am also considering you appliqués those little motifs? I'm prepping for some machine quilting today & this weekend.

  8. The Reds don't contrast but sometimes things are just a little hohum...so why not keep it... When you look "closer", it provides interest. It could be a "red letter day"!
I am going to experiment with the free motion design idea that you show on the pincushion, it makes it look so fragile! . Freedom!
