I was surprised when I realized today I have been blogging for 6 years! It was one of the best things I ever decided to do. I have met so many people in real life and in virtual life and that is always a good thing! When I go back and read those beginning posts......let's just say I think they have gotten a little better.
I am sure you have seen this stitching/sketching technique all over the internet of late. I tried it a while back and fell in love with it. I put the patterns away after I made a couple of things and forgot about them.
I was so excited when I heard she wrote a book (actually there are 2 authors). I love that all the information is in one place and there are some patterns in there I don't have.
These remind me of a child's scissors......
A sewing machine is too cute to pass up......the last 2 are going to my guild and will be given away.
I am in a block swap with Barb of Fun with Barb. Because of my crazy schedule coming up I needed to get them done. Thirty pairs done and done! Last year we did bowties and I am thinking of combining both blocks, what do you think?
Cob webs gone, dusted and vacuumed |
I really need to paint over that yellow! |
I have been busy being Suzy homemaker. Cleaning and cleaning and cleaning......it is good motivation to get some fall cleaning out of the way.....I have 3 people coming to stay with me for a wedding.
So for the giveaway........I will make you a pincushion or 2 (maybe) like the ones above. It may be those patterns or another of my choosing, it will all depend on how I feel the day I do them. In order to win, leave me a comment of your FAVORITE fall cleaning chore and your LEAST FAVORITE cleaning chore. Please be sure to leave an email if you are a no commenter, you cannot win if I don't have your email. You could even sway me to make a certain pattern but I won't promise! I will draw the name on Wednesday September 21. I will be monitoring the comments but will not be able to answer them, remember I will have houseguests! Good Luck!
Giveaway is now closed!
Kelly
Congratulations on 6 years of blogging. I certainly have enjoyed reading it. As for chores, you know how I feel about cleaning.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 6 years!! I'm a happy follower from the early days and always love your posts. Your bedroom photos look as though they are from a magazine. Such cute pincushions, they look fun to make.
ReplyDeleteFall chores, favorite is getting out my down comforter, least favorite raking
ReplyDeleteFall chores, favorite is getting out my down comforter, least favorite raking
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fall chore is cleaning out my gardens. My least favorite would be washing windows. Such cute pincushions! lisa walsh at frontier net dot net
ReplyDeleteIf it's a chore, I enjoy pruning and planting fall flowers, hate raking!
ReplyDeleteFavorite chore is canning! If it has to be cleaning, I would say decluttering. I love getting rid of excess and seeing how pretty a room is without the extra stuff. Least favorite is scrubbing the showers and the stove. sarah@forrussia.org
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for keeping the blog going for years. No easy feat! Favorite cleaning chore? None. Least favorite? All! I'm going to have to look for that book. Those pin cushions are adorable.

ReplyDeleteMost favorite Fall chore is getting set to use our woodburner! & canning our harvest! :) Least fave..blah! on raking allll the leaves! lol

Congrats on 6 years!!
ReplyDeleteFavorite : None
Least: Vaccum
Favorite is cleaning out closets, I am on a toss things out frenzy! Least favorite is taking down and cleaning the glass globes on the ceiling light fixtures, I usually talk Scott into doing it! Congrats Kelly, I love your blog! One of the first posts I read was when you described your accident, I'll never forget it. Glad you're ok!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Fall chore: planting daffodil and tulip bulbs to come up the spring. Least Favorite: dragging all the hoses into the garage.
ReplyDeleteI live on the Southern Hemisphere, so we're heading into Spring! The worst chore is cleaning the fly screens on the Windows! Argh! The best chore is folding and sorting my fabric!! Haha! It needs organisation!! But it'll be nice to touch it all! emilyste7ens at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, great milestone. I don't think I like any housecleaning chores but I do them all anyway. I love all the outside stuff. Dragging the plants inside, putting the cushions away, cleaning up the yard, trimming the trees, all fine with me. Cleaning inside, yuck. I just do one thing a day.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of blogging - congrats on 6 years!! Chores... well they are a CHORE, but I do like switching from summer to fall clothes and changing those around! What I like the least is having to put a way/cover up for the year the picnic table and outside furniture as I do enjoy sitting outside in the summer weather! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday for these 6 years ! I'm glad I discovered your blog not a long time ago, but i love to read it ! :)
ReplyDeleteCleaning my garden is my favourite during the Halloween holidays. And well, everyday, the vacuum cleaner is a ritual ! :)
Well done on 6 years of blogging.. I hope there are many, many more. Lovely work with the pin cushions and blocks. And good luck with the Fall cleaning. I have a love/hate relationship with cleaning windows. I hate doing it at the time, but I love how great they look when done with the sun streaming in.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! There is nothing I really love about cleaning, but windows have got to be one of the worst.
ReplyDeleteFavorite: cleaning attic and getting rid of stuff. I can get in attic with the weather cooling down. Least favorite: WINDOWS!!!
ReplyDeletelenelson(at)mail(dot)com
fall cleaning, what a concept!! bwaaahahaha... oh you're serious? Well, I guess I don't mind putting away stuff from the screened in porch for the winter altho that's sad. I do like sorting magazines and packing away summer clothes and revisiting my winter clothes. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteI do collect pin cushions so I have fingers crossed to win!Thank you for the chance! YOur guest rooms look inviting.

Congratulations on your six-year blogging anniversary! Favorite cleaning is clearing out cupboards, least favorite is vacuuming under the bed! Ugh!
ReplyDeleteHaving a favorite chore seems wrong! But I do love cleaning out my closet and hanging my sweaters. Least favorite chore? Probably dusting mostly because it needs to be done too often. Would love to win one of those sweet pincushions! Love your blog - happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteI love all of those pincushions. So cute! My favorite fall chore is changing out my summer quilts for the fall ones. My least favorite is washing windows.
ReplyDeleteI love the pincushions...they are so sweet! Congratulations on your 6-year anniversary.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite and my worst chore...going through closet. Favorite because I love culling and getting organized. Worst because I find it hard to part with things, even things I don't use much!
Happy blogiversary to you!!! 🌷🎂🌷🎂🌷My favorite fall chore is decorating. Least favorite is cleaning of any kind. I'd rather be sewing!
ReplyDeleteWow! Six years is quite an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteI like to go through closets and drawers and cabinets to reorganize and cull out junk. I HATE washing windows!
Your pincushions are super cute. I need to get that book.
I am new to your blog - Love it! You're family is beautiful as is your quilting. I am across the continent in Oregon where autumn surprised us this week and seems to have upstaged summer. Pennsylvania holds a special place in my heart even though I have visited only once (in late September - beautiful!).
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to find anything to not like about autumn - it's so yummy - but I agree, window washing is least favorite. Perhaps I can coerce hubby into outsourcing; it is a waste of perfectly good quilting time! Favorite would be cleaning out the yard gardens - something so nice about a resting garden after the dog days of summer.
Thank you for the delightful posts.
I've been clearing out dust bunnies! I've been working too much this past month. Company is good as it forces us to CLEAN those corners! LOL I dislike cleaning the showers/tub the most, but don't mind cleaning the bathroom mirrors.
ReplyDeleteYour house is so pretty and looks very welcoming!! Happy 6 year blogaversary!!
Adorable pincushions! Least favorite chore is bathrooms. Favorite has to be in the garden--tidying flower beds and planting bulbs (definitely not raking leaves-ugh).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your company and thanks for all the wonderful blogging, many inspirations over the years!
My favorite fall chore is doing fall leaves. Love the smells, the sounds of the leaves being raked, love seeing the HUGE pile and a "clean yard." Least favorite chore has to be a dirty carpet. I won't even go there.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 6 years! I've enjoyed all of your posts!
ReplyDeleteWhat darling pincushions! I haven't tried that technique yet. Looks like it could be fun.
My favorite fall chore is probably cleaning windows - instant gratification! My least favorite would be everything else! I'd rather sew than clean any day.
My least favorite fall chore is washing windows, maybe Sharon wants to trade a chore with me! 😂 My most favorite is gardening! I love to tidy the beds and raking leaves makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite Fall task is to wash down all thee foods I have canned for the year and put little fabric covers on them. My least favorite task is to get all the leaves out of my flower beds. janicelashley@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of fall cleaning is opening all of the windows and getting that fresh, crisp air flowing through the house. I usually end up re-pressing and sorting my fabric stash in the fall, so of course that is my favorite. Least favorite would have to be getting rid of the webs, leaves, general debris that has accumulated outside around the doors and windows over the summer. This is my first year not having an actual yard to deal with, so it will go quickly.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 6 year blog staying power. I hope you have enjoyed this journey enough to keep on blogging. Fall cleaning. Well I like to air out my home and I start the process of switching over the seasonal clothes. It's time to pack up the summer things. My least favorite is all of the leaves to clean, the critters that are trying to come into the house for a winter siesta, the drain cleaning, the window washing. But I do look forward to pumpkin food season. I love pumpkin with spice foods.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to be a winner, I say surprise me with what you send. I like surprises and handmade items.

what cute pincushions! I like your yellow paint! wow your rooms look so clean and neat and fresh. I need to do some cleaning too!!! I would say my least favorite cleaning is windows. I did just donate 4 boxes of clothes and stuff but I need to clean my storage area soon!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary I'm so grateful we met through blogging!
P.S.
ReplyDeleteI love your red combinations - and I love the idea of combining the blocks, it is one of the reasons I picked another 4" block.
Oh, those little pincushions are darling - I would say that you have mastered the technique beautifully. My favourite fall clean up task is raking the leaves (especially if it's not windy!) and my least favourite would be washing windows. Never seem to get them totally smudge free. Happy blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is organizing everything, and my least favorite is washing windows!

ReplyDeleteWow, six years! Does it seem that long to you? I am and have been inspired by your blog, thank you! I like to clean out closets and organize when I have time, don't like to scrub out the showers. The pin keeps look fun, that is part of what I enjoy about your blog, you make fun things!
ReplyDeleteI love to get out on a beautiful fall day and wash all the windows so we catch watch it snow! I always look forward to fall after the summer ends. Your pin cushions by the way are darling, I love them all.....

ReplyDeleteYou are the perfect person to join in!
My favorite fall chore? raking leaves! I LOVE to rake leaves.
Least favorite: I'm not a big fan of cleaning my house (any time of year!!).
Congrats on your 6 yrs of being a blogger! I agree that it's an amazing experience.
And your blog is lovely, too!
Fall chores, there are so many. Splitting firewood, stacking it, closing up the campground, switching to the winter water system, cleaning up the garden, sort of a comforting routine. Nice when it is all done. I love your little pincushions that thread painting is very cute.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cleaning chore is laundry! And my least favorite is dusting. Bleck! thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite chore would have to be going outside and cleaning the outside windows. Then I can see crystal clear out the windows again. My least favorite chore of all time is Vacuuming the floors! mburnette912@bellsouth.net
ReplyDeleteYour threadwork is wonderful! My favorite fall chore would be getting out the fall/winter clothing totes and getting to see all my lovely sweaters back on the shelves. What I hate doing is sweeping down all the nasty cobwebs on our long porch!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, Oh wow a handcrafted pinnie...how can I resist:) Thank for sharing your Sew Illustrated talents.
ReplyDeleteLoving raking the fall leaves off the grass and into the bedding around my trees and flower beds. THe smell is so refreshing. Least favorite is continually swiping the ever growing cob webs outside my doors and windows. It looks like halloween w/no decorating effort on my part:)
schimmel(dot)db(at)gmail(dot)com
Your pincushions are adorable! I've been drooling over the Sew Illustrated blog entries. My favorite fall chore is getting to the outside tasks like repotting plants now that the summer heat is dissipating. My least favorite is trying to put away summer clothes and get out coolish ones and reorganizing the closet.
ReplyDelete3dears (at) gmail (dot) com
A favorite fall cleaning chore? Pssshhh. How can there be a favorite form of cleaning? ;) LOL! My least favorite would have to be dusting. Ugh.
ReplyDelete(nataleethewriter@gmail.com)
A six year commitment to blogging is no easy task! Congratulations on your effort and great blog. Looking forward to the next six! I hate chores at any time of the year preferring to be in my studio creating. But if I choose one that gives me satisfaction it would be vacuuming . Love the thought of all that dust going away in that motorized machine. I hate working in the yard- we have 3 acres... Where do you start? I do keep my birds feed. I love that maybe more than vacuuming!
ReplyDeleteWow, six years! Congratulations, Kelly! I thoroughly enjoy following your blog and social media postings; you have inspired me in many ways!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fall chore is decorating. And call me weird, but I don't have a least favorite chore! I don't mind any of them!
Wow 6 years - that's great Kelly ...
ReplyDeleteOk - so for my least favorite chore - it has to be those pesky leaves - raking - blowing - dumping - raking - blowing - dumping .. you get the picture - it's never ending until the snow hits .. as for my favorite fall chore ... I'd have to say getting ready for all the fall festivities .. bon fires- s'mores - sweatshirts - warm beverages and good books !!!
Here's to another six years !!
Cheers
Congratulations on 6 years! Those pin cushions are darling! It looks like a fun technique to try :0) I love the name of the book. I have no favorite cleaning chore- in any season! But I do have a least favorite - yard cleanup is just wretched for allergies and asthma.
ReplyDeleteCleaning the ceiling fans in hopes of not having to use them would be my least; my favorite would be making Apple butter. Thanks for such a great blog.
ReplyDeleteSuch great pincushions! My least favorite chore is window cleaning and I have a lot of them to clean. I really enjoy working in the gardens in the fall and harvesting the veggies.
ReplyDeleteLove the pincushions. Favorite chore? No contest - anything outside. Inside chores are always put off until company is coming!
