KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE MY BLOW DRYER RUN!

All Over The Place

There are some days that I believe I need medication! I jump from project to project and can't seem to focus on just one thing.
I have decided to make the Moda Modern Building Blocks from prints in my stash. I am going to follow their colorway. There might be a solid or two if appropriate.

This is the first block and it is huge! 36 x 36. I had to re-evaluate my fabric choices because I didn't have enough fabric for some of the larger pieces. I may try and do 1 a week or maybe 2 of the smaller blocks.

Does anyone remember this quilt? It has been sitting around for a while. I have decided to use the Quilt As You Go method. This is either going to be a really good idea or a nightmare! It is queen size so it needs to be manageable.

I am doing various widths of straight line quilting. I am here to tell you it is so BORING! I had a hard time just finishing up one half of the first panel, there are 4 or 5.....goals will need to be set if I ever want to see this one completed.

Love all the green fabrics!

  1. I have days like that too, jumping from project to project. You might have to do that with your green quilt. It is so pretty and such interesting fabrics. If you hop around you will get it done instead of the poor thing being stuffed into a closet or a bin (where all of mine end up when I am some how stuck).

  2. Must be in the air--today was one of those jumping bean days for me, too. Binding, crocheting, moving plants in and around, gosh, just madness! am finally pooped out! i love that geen quilt and I'll bet quilt-as-you-go will work out really well. Hugs, hoping for an un-restless weekend...Julierose

  3. I've sometimes described myself as a kangaroo on a pogo stick because I'm a project jumper too. There's just so many fun projects to make, or boring stages that need spicing up with other sewing in between. I love the fabrics you are using in your lime green cross quilt. I'll be curious to hear your thought on QAYG. I find straight line quilting gets boring too, good music helps a bit.

  4. Believe me, I understand about the sewing room distractions, hopping from one project to another. I sure like the greens in this quilt. Yes, you must keep plugging away at it, even if quilting straight lines is boring. I say that, and I've had a quilt in my sewing machine since last Saturday that hasn't been touched. I don't know how to quilt it, so there it sits. I need a big push!

  6. Jumping from one to the other is better than being bored with nothing to do. Enjoy it!

  7. It's ok to jump around. You get stuff done and are happy in the mean time. Good luck on MQ."....CAN YOU CHANGE UP THE DIRECTION OF THE LINES...SOME DIAGONAL. Can you add some different designs on some...I have some ideas...will bring to Poconos if you are not done by then.

  8. When I see your posts you are always onto something new and exciting. But I do understand how some projects become repetitive after a while. Thats when I listen to a good audio book!

  10. Sounds like the "jump-from-project-to-project" is an epidemic! I'm sure that the medication is some sort of fabric therapy, don't you! I agree with the boredom of doing straight line quilting....but, oh, how I love the end result!
