I know it has been a long time since I blogged. Just this morning a friend, Chris emailed me to see if everything was ok! I liked that I was missed (-: Thanks Chris!
I have been sewing up a storm. I am finishing up started projects that have been languishing in my sewing room and taking up space. This one above (not named yet) was quilted by Cindy Carey of Northstar Quilting. Cindy did a beautiful job and I am glad to call this one almost done. Contact me if you want her information.
Sorry about the lousy pictures but once again it looks like rain!
I have decided not to show you this one until it is quilted. I am going to try and get to it this week. It was so much fun to make but took a lot more time than I thought it would.
I have also started on some Christmas blocks. It would be nice to get this one done for this year but I am not in a rush.
This one was a blast! It was marketed as a BOM. I came in on the end so I was able to get all but one pattern right away. I made this entire quilt in less than a month, using my own fabric choices. My friends Carolyn and Jamie have a longarm business and they quilted this one for me. They suggested this new pattern they recently bought and it is perfect! As soon as the binding is done I will post it. My goal is to get it done today. Contact me if you want their information.
So I do like my termperature quilt but truthfully I am tired of making the blocks but only 3 more months to go! I can hang in there until then. It's going to be cool when it's done.
I also have a paper pieced quilt going on but have made very little progress. It will be a good retreat project to do some mindless sewing. I really want to get back to this one.
For those of you on IG there is a Free Wheeling Single Girl sew along going on. I had the original pattern by Denyse Schmidt and made one block. Maybe now this will make it into the rotation.
Some more Christmas sewing. I made a huge error on this one and will share it in another post. I think I have figured out how to fix it. It just goes to show no matter how long you have been quilting you can mess it up! Maybe following the directions would have been a good idea.....
I like to joke that my husband and I were the only people who still slept in in a double size bed. Well now we have a kind size. He is going to make a headboard out of some black walnut. For now I hung this quilt up and I think it looks terrific! Now to paint, new carpet.........
Remember this quilt from a long time ago? I have some exciting information to share later on....
I have not been painting too much but I want to get back to it. Maybe that's because....
I have been working on this puzzle! I love doing puzzles but it is kind of a waste of time....
I cleaned out all my books and magazines to give to my guild to sell. It feels so good!!!!
The garden is definitely starting to fade but it is still beautiful. I am reluctant to pull the flowers out as they still have some color. How long do you wait? It would be nice to do it in the nice weather but then it will look so bare!
I am going to try and get back into blogging. If you want to follow me on Instagram you can find me at @pinkadotquilts. I deleted my Facebook page and it feels so good. I was surprised how many other people have gotten rid of their's too. Maybe there is a trend?
Kelly
So happy to hear from you once more; I also do jigsaws and diamond painting--not really time wasters--I think they are very relaxing in our busy lives...you have a whole lot of lovely projects going on...what is that strippy one? I love working with strips...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented and I love seeing your quilts, even though they put mine to shame. Gorgeous!!! Puzzles are great fun . . . I think they are good for the brain and a great way to relax and slow down . . . we all need that from time to time.
ReplyDeleteHave a sweet day and Happy Quilting!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
You have been busy!! I love seeing your DS stash, she's an all time favorite of mine. And your Flying Geese quilt is really cool, I love your color combinations and that you are using only solids.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration!
I am anxious to be finished with the Flying Geese. Year long projects can be fun but start to get old around the 10th month! I think I will love it when it's finished.
DeleteI love those fabrics too and have been saving them for just the righ thing. I think this is it!
I so enjoyed seeing your latest quilt progress. The temperature quilt looks amazing! Thanks for letting us have a little peak into your current projects.:)
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to blog when IG is so instantaneous. I’ve been pondering that as I keep thinking I should be blogging. Maybe today is the day! You have been very busy and can’t wait to see your getaway projects.
ReplyDeleteYou have been really busy! Everything looks great- such a pretty post.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing what you're up to. Everything's so colorful, it makes me want to add more color to my world!
ReplyDeleteSince we are getting up close.... your first photo shows an applique of flowers. It looks as if the background, which was quilted with a grid, was quilted first, then the applique was added later? (since none of the applique is quilted over, and it looks awfully tricky to quilt a grid behind that applique....) Just curious!
ReplyDeleteYou came through as a no reply commentor so I hope you get this.....You're right there is no quilting over the applique. I had an amazing machine quilter who figure out how to do all of that for me!
DeleteI especially love your quilt with triangles ! So fun and so beautiful !
ReplyDeleteLove a lot your paintings too ! I saw them on IG !
I always enjoy my visits here and you have been busy! So many projects. Why do we quilters do this to ourselves?
ReplyDeleteWorking with puzzles is not a waste of time. Google: "is working with puzzles good for the brain" You will be surprised at why it is so. Perhaps it has something to do with our creative bent? I read it strengthens our creativity and concentration. Not such a bad thing for us creative types.
Oh yippee! I am so glad you are still blogging. I'll admit that I was linking to your blog to add it to my list of 'blog friends' and I felt so sad when I saw the last post date. Then I felt like a horrible friend that I hadn't even noticed you'd stopped blogging. But now you're back and I'm so happy again! Looking forward to seeing you in November!
ReplyDeleteso much beauty I can hardly keep still! I love each thing you're making. That's pretty interesting, that I like each one! The temperature quilt is gorgeous. I'd want lots of intricate over quilting but not know how to design it. Also the temps here have been a scorching mid 90's for a long time so I'd have a deep red section! I love puzzles, and figure they are a waste of time, but better than mindless eating or tv watching... I think while doing a puzzle, often figuring out problem solutions. And if we can't waste a little time recharging then whats it all for?! We won't win by leaving the most paintings, or artworks, we create those because we like to.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I loved seeing all of your fun projects and knowing that I am not the only one with lots of WIPs!! I began blogging again last week after a 3 year vacay! I’m doing it mainly to keep a record for myself of my quilting and sewing. After looking over my old posts I realized how much fun I had and what nice people I’ve “met”. Like you! Keep on keeping on!!
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo - always love when you have a colorful post up for us.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear what up with the house quilt...?? you've been busy and letting go of a lot and I'm right with you.
I wait as long as possible with my flowers. As long as their alive I keep them.
your temp quilt is cool and you will be happy you hung in there.
I'm with you on the puzzles....I only do a couple a year for the reason you cited.
wow so many fabulous quilts in progress - it was great to catch up on what you're doing.
