Home Sweet Home

I am home at last! It was a wonderful visit with my sister and her family in the heartland of our country. Yes there are lots and lots of farms everywhere you look.

I think yard sales are a way of life out there. I found this apron, it says "a good mixer" on the pocket. I had to have it. It was $1.50.

Another pretty apron with a lace pocket. The fabric in this will be used in something......

I also found some more vintage embroideries....there is a project planned.

My sister, Flynn gave me this one that my grandmother made.

We also went to Hobby Lobby, my first time! I found some good books to check out over the summer. We seriously need a Hobby Lobby around here.

How can my sewing room look like this when I have not even been home? The trash can overflowing, how tacky!

So today I did laundry, went to the grocery store, the bank, cleaned up, in general I restored some order to my house. I teased my husband when I got home yesterday and said " I think some teenagers must have broken into the house today while you were at work and had a party"......he smiled and said, what's for dinner?
Some things never change.....

  1. Glad you had a good time with family and found some cool vintage treasures. I appreciate the realistic photo of your sewing area. Do I spot Hello Kitty fabric? I also (too frequently) get the 'what's for dinner question.'

  2. Glad you had a good visit with your sister. Looks like you found lots of goodies too. You know we do have a Hobby Lobby in Easton and one in Trexlertown.

  3. Welcome home. Don't you wish the fairies would tidy your sewing room while youre away. It sounds as though you had a wonderful time with your sister! I love that she gave you a stitched doily from your grandmother. All your other fabric finds are such treasures too! No doubt you'll be super inspired after reading all of those books!!

  4. welcome home! enjoy those books . love the aprons just too cute. can't wait to see what you have planned with the vintage embroideries
now that all the errands are done hope you get to sew this weekend…

  5. Looks like you and your sister found plenty to do together! Some great finds.

  6. Wahoo! Fabric and books from the heartland! Looks like you gathered inspiration, a few projects and some wonderful memories! Don't know about you but as much as I love to travel it is always nice to come home--even having a boat load of errands and having to think of dinner!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Vacations can be fun and look at all the treasures you brought back. No Hobby Lobby's? Interesting.

  8. like you vintage embroideries. I seem to collect those as well, can't turn my back on them. I''m really interested in seeing what you do with them. I think a messy sewing room is just proof of progress. Glad you had a safe trip

  9. Were you in Iowa? Because, gosh, this looks a lot like Iowa. So glad you found vintage-y things that you like. I just ordered Jenny Pedigo's book - "Contemporary Curved Quilts" - and can't wait to get it. Hope you're enjoying being back home now. I bet you're sewing!

  10. Great post - I adore those vintage embroideries, especially the one from your grandma! I would also love to shop at a Hobby Lobby someday!

  11. The vintage embroidery pieces are so pretty. I love seeing them and remembering some of those same motifs stitched on my Mom and Grandma's dresser scarves. Remember dresser scarves? And doilies on the arms and backs of chairs? And of course aprons, always aprons. Hope you enjoy your new books.
When I git home after 2+ weeks away all the food that was in the fridge when I left was still there. ugh DH did do his dishes and sort of clean up. :) In anycase there isnoplace like home.

  12. Looks like you had a great vacation!

  13. Great post, Kelly. What state were you in? I can't imagine that you had never visited a Hobby Lobby....poor thing!! =)

  14. Doesn't it feel good to be missed? ha ha
I love Hobby Lobby and have missed here on the east coast.
Your apron finds are lovely and I can't wait to see what you make with the embroidered pieces.
Sewing rooms that are messy show creativity :)

  15. p.s. don't you love the flat wide open spaces in the mid-west? I sure do.

I love to read your comments, they make my day!
