Lost In Space

Doesn't just looking at this beautiful bunch of flowers (lily of the valley, forget-me-not and spanish blue bells) make you relax? That is why I picked them. If you put them in a powder room, the scent  of the lily of the valley will greet you every time you go in there. Lovely!

The push is on to get all of the wedding things I am making done. It is very overcast here today so I could not get a good picture of the quilt but this gives you a good idea of what it looks like. Now I know why I don't make queen size quilts, what a pain to wrangle it around. I was exhausted just trying to sew the binding on it.

The quilting is wonderful, an all over swirl done by Susie Racobaldo of Kennett Square PA. I was not even tempted to do this myself.

I am not a huge fan of making labels, I usually just write on the back of the quilt with a Sharpie and then iron it. It felt weird to write this down, I guess it is making it feel real!

The bridesmaids asked me to make a runner for the dessert table. Something pink and girly, ok twist my arm! Again a terrible picture on this gloomy day.

These are the fabrics I chose and I really like them! I like the little touches of blue too.

This is a family recipe book, that Maddy is giving her.

On the inside I put her new initials and the date.

I asked family members to hand write some recipes. We have some from my grandmother that are priceless. She may never make "sorghum cookies" but I love that she has a recipe in her hand writing. Maddy helped me add some stickers for fun.

In the back I also included her shower invitation.

This is a handkerchief that my great grandmother made. All 3 of my daughters in law carried it and now I will pass it along to my daughter, something old and something blue. Caitlin will now be the keeper of the handkerchief that hopefully my granddaughters will want to carry at their weddings.

I love the detail, this is my great grandmother Dolly who I credit for my love of sewing. She sat me on her lap at the age of 4 and let me embroider a tea towel, using a six strands of floss!

To add to the busy schedule, Maddy had her first ballet recital. It was so fun to watch. May daughter cried during the entire performance.

I am also attending a baby shower in a few weeks. I like to add something that is not on the registry list so I made this little toy. My grandchildren loved sucking on those little tags.

The walls are painted but I have not gotten in there to paint the trim. I love the color but still don't like all that beige!
So that is what I have been up to for the past week or so. I am missing all my blogging friends because I have not even been turning on the computer! Too much temptation. Once I get the gardens under control and that trim painted I will be back to more regular posting.

  1. I love seeing what you've been up to! I understand your temptation at the computer when you have oodles of other things to attend to. It's been that way for me too, for several weeks now. How do the commitments pile up like that?!

Sure love the Scrappy Trip quilt you've made, and I'm proud of you for creating a label. You'll always be glad you took the time to do that.

Wish I had ANY flowers to pick and bring into the house! I do love them, but I love quilting more, so any sort of garden is simply not to be.

The taggie you made is adorable. My grandsons always liked theirs too.

Hang in there on wedding preparations. You're doing great!

  2. what a fun packed post!
The wedding quilt is so lovely, it will be an instant heirloom.
The runner is really fun. I'd like to make some more runners after the move.
Maddy is adorable in her leotard. I miss those dance recitals.
cute cute baby toy - you are amazing!
    good luck with the bathroom.
They always look sad when being updated, but you add the curtain, the towels the flowers and viola'
Send me some garden photos - I remember how lovely your gardens ares.

  3. Wow! The wedding quilt is beautiful and I know it will be loved.
The runner is so cute. Love all the girly fabrics.
Maddy looks so cute and so proud. My DD#1 was in a recital when she was 4 or 5 and at the end of the day she asked me to carry her to the car. She said to me, "I think I am too little for this". Cracked me up because she was very independant and always said she was "big".
I think the bathroom will be pretty when you get it done. Like the color lots.

  4. You have been a busy bee! Now I know why you have been so quiet. Great wedding quilt with one of my favorite quilting patterns. That tablerunner is perfect. And I think I know who that ribbon pillow is for - VBG.
Can't wait for life to get back to normal. One day?

  5. You've been moving at warp speed! All of your project are fantastic. The wedding quilt is perfect. I'm sure the happy couple will love it. Enjoy the moments.

  6. I love this action packed post full of fun, fabulous wonderful things, from beautiful flowers ( I can smell the heavenly Lily of the Valley through the photo) to a dreamy wedding quilt, to that super fun baby toy. Your bathroom is looking great too!! Oh and the gorgeous runner, simply gorgeous!! Wow, you have been busy!!

  7. Such a busy time!!! But you have achieved a lot! The wedding quilt is beautiful. That is a wonderful gift and hopefully with be treasured for many, many years.
Love the idea of the table runner. That looks great, too.
Great taggie. I can't believe the bathroom is having a work over, too, in the middle of everything. WoW!
The flowers are so pretty. You haven't been sneaking in to Longwood at night, have you?? Your garden must look lovely.

  8. You have been busy! I picked some of my Lily of the Valley and put it on the table. One cat tried to nibble on it so I checked and it is highly poisonous! Also, I have a bathtub surround thing just like yours. We had someone come in and make it white, SOO much better than than harvest gold, and its lasted at least 12 years...
