Well Hurricane Irene is on her way and I plan on making the most of it! Today I am going to get stuff ready so I can sew the entire weekend. It is kind of like a summer version of a snow storm except much more destructive. We will be on the western side of the storm but they are predicting a lot of rain, some tropical winds, power outages (we have a generator) and falling trees because of our already saturated ground. I will not be leaving my house!
I even pulled out some fabrics to make a NEW quilt. I have no busines starting something new. I think it could be a real quick one though and I could call it Irene! Anybody else planning a sewing party?
Kelly
I love the idea! The colors and fabrics are great for your new quilt. I hope we don;t have the power outage so I can keep sewing!
ReplyDeleteNothing new happening here.. Like you, I have no business starting a new project. And you know why!
I love the idea of being "hurricaned in" instead of "snowed in". I have plenty to do and will keep my fingers crossed that we don't lose power. No generator here!
ReplyDeleteDoing the same here! Except i'm making sure I have a lot of hand sewing to do because we lose power frequently here. Your fabric is so cheerful, will chase the hurricane blues away!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Mickie
Be safe. Sounds like you're looking on the bright side!
ReplyDeleteI have several projects going so as long as the electric stays on I will be humming along.
ReplyDeleteOf course, if the electric goes out I have a long overdue quilt that still needs the quilting completed; just need to find the rest of the thread I was using.
I'm in NJ. . . so we have most of our "hatches" in the "batten down" position. . . expecting the worst but hoping that all the "hype" is overkill!
You're certainly thinking positively! I hope your storm isn't more than that, a heavy rain storm. Can you drive a sewing machine on generator power?! I'd set aside some handwork, just in case. But your fabrics look great, and will be fun to dig into. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly--I am Julierose from CT and we are hunkering down as we are right on the Coast!! Planning to baste together my "Wonky Crosses, Cats and Crows" lap quilt for the upcoming birth of my granddaughter....got my oil lamps primed and ready for a "baste-a-thon" stay safe "keep calm and quilt on"...
ReplyDeleteYou can trust quilters to make the best/most of a storm! May you stay safe during the storm!
ReplyDeleteI also love your Blog "Banner"--is it your own pattern? Soooo cute. Julierose
ReplyDeleteKelly, I was thinking about you just this morning being in the path of the storm. You are smart to stay inside and sew. Irene will be a great name for your cheerful quilt!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you'll be sewing up a storm!! Stay safe, I hope Irene settles down and goes away, and leaves everyone alone! I love those new quilt fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of naming a quilt for the hurricane--sort of like making a special quilt to commemorate a particular retreat, etc. Stay safe and have fun!
ReplyDeletehave a fun hurricane sew! I plan to do hand quilting -
ReplyDeletelove your fabrics, can't wait to see what you come up with.
I am very fortunate to live in a part of the world where we have no tornados, no hurricanes, rare mini-cyclones, and infrequent severe thunder/hail storms. So it's interesting to read what people who live with those things do when they know they are coming! Have a wonderful time with Quilt Irene.
ReplyDeleteStay safe!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have lots of beautiful fabrics to keep you occupied.
