Scrap Quilt Secrets Blog Hop and Book Giveaway

Today is my day on the blog hop to introduce you to my blogging friend, Diane Knott of Butterfly Threads QuiltingHer new book Scrap Quilt Secrets is an in depth book about scrap quilts and how to make them. The cover quilt immediately got my attention when I saw her book! Look at all those lovely scrappy half square triangles.
Diane breaks down into easy steps the way to make a stunning design using all those precious scraps you are saving for just the right quilt.

I liked the quilt in the book called "Fusion" and made this pillow using her secrets and quick techniques. It went together quickly and the instructions were clear and easy to follow.
One of the things Diane talks about in the book is contrast, something I always struggle with in quilting.

I enjoyed mixing it up and using lots of cherry reds in the pillow to make it scrappy. You could even fussy cut the center in this block, the ideas are endless!

To celebrate the release of her new book, Diane is giving you a chance to win a copy right here on my blog. To enter please leave me a comment and if you want answer the question, "how many scrap quilts have you made?" Be sure your email address is included or you will not be eligible to win. International winner will receive an E-book. I will be picking the winner on Monday April 4th.
Congratulations Diane on a lovely book!

    ReplyDelete
  89. You like to ask the tough questions to make us earn the book, don't you? By my estimation, I have startd over a hundred quilts. How many of those are finished narrows this down a bit - okay maybe a lot. And of those, we are going to have to start thinking about the definition of scrap, right? There are some that use a bunch of fabrics and then there are some that just use a few but they don't match. Then there are some that match, but use leftovers from another project. So I'm going to make up a number, and you won't know the difference unless you come over and do an audit. Umm, 10. No, wait it can't be a whole number. 17. Yeah, and if you can't find them all in my house, those were the ones I gave away.

  118. I'm not ducking the question, but I really can't guess how many--even when I make a "planned" quilt, scraps sneak in there. My very favorite quilt is my scrappiest, made with bits of fabric from other "favorite" quilts, so that every piece is a sweet memory. I love that quilt so much, and now whenever I make a quilt, I tuck away a very distinctive scrap or two for the next "favorite" scrap quilt.

  137. If my WIPs are included, the scrap quilt count would be in the dozens; finished ones, not so many (some are still waiting for just the right scraps). Thanks so much for posting the Sounds of Silence video; I love it. Because of that post, and the one before it with the Meridian block, I'm subscribing to your blog--you're interesting!

  172. Thank you for the opportunity to win this book. I love scrap quilts. It's very hard for me to make a quilt using just 4 or 5 fabrics. I've got to use LOTS. All shades of cream, yellow, white and tan are my backgrounds and then I grab COLOR from the stacks. Lots and lots of variety. Then the leftovers get cut up in usable sizes for the bins. I've been quilting like this for about 15 years and will never go back. Love my scraps
