Pink
My pink baby quilt is finished and now just needs some quilting. A lot of times I just skip the border or slap on a plain border and call it a day. I really like this border and it was easy to make.
My favorite part is little red riding hood in the center.
I played with the borders before I sewed them on. I have always wanted to make this zig zag pattern, now I really want to make one!
This was an interesting design too.....
A garden update.....isn't this an awesome sunflower? It is black when it first blooms, I find it a very interesting addition to my garden, it has multiple stems.
My Gerbera Daisies are flourishing this year, maybe the cooler temps?
As long as I live I will always have black eyed susans and
zinnias in my garden. Mother nature gets her colors perfect everytime!
Your comments on the Blue Scrap Giveaway have been fun to read. One person wants Maddy to start her own blog, please don't give her any ideas! She already is begging for her own cell phone.... Check it out if you are interested in winning a big box of blue scraps.
I never do this but I am today. I got my lone star quilt back from Barb Persing, the long arm quilter. It is amazing, she did a super job. It is supposed to rain all weekend so there is a good chance I will get it bound this weekend.
Ok, one more.......
Kelly
How awesome does your lone star quilt look with that quilting! Hurry and finish it- I want more photos of it, please!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe baby quilt is so sweet and pretty. I love the border. There are so many great pieced borders and I love how they look. I am usually too lazy to do the math (hanging head in shame) and that is the truth. The lone start is fantastic. The garden looks amazing. I have never seen a black sunflower, how coool.
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty! Love the pink baby quilt, Kelly. All those yummy pinks and that dotted fabric for the background make this as sweet as can be.
ReplyDeleteWow! Look at the gorgeous flowers you have. That dark sunflower is so cool looking. Do you collect seeds from it to use the following year or do the birds get to feast on them, instead?
Kelly, your quilt was beautiful to begin with (they all are) and Barb made it even more awesome! GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteFunny I am working on a zigzag quilt but hadn't thought of using it for a border. Lovely garden, awesome machine quilting too!
ReplyDeleteA perfect quilt for a little girl! What am I saying! I would love it! The quilting on your quilt is just amazing. Rain will just make your garden grow more and more with beauty. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe pink stars have worked so well in this quilt. So we will see a zig zag layout, soon?
ReplyDeleteYour garden is blooming beautifully.
The quilting on your lone star looks amazing.
The sun flower looks like a Moulan Rouge! I love them and grow them. LAST year I had one that had 37 flower heads on it! They are prolific I. Great dirt and lots of sun. They are hybrids but I love them anyway! No fertilizer either!
ReplyDeleteI love the little pink quilt! And the border is perfect for it. I bought a whole set of flying gees bloc loc rulers and I can't wait to give them a try!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is amazing. Here it is winter, so all the trees are bare, except for the viburnums and nandinas. Lovely colour for a winter day.
I can't wait to see your lone star. I'm pulling mine out and finishing! Well, someday soon.....
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post - just what I'm looking for while I have my morning tea...great quilts, gorgeous flowers and fabulous color! I really enjoyed this!
ReplyDeleteKelly, this baby is a lucky baby! Your pink quilt is so pretty. I usually set the blocks in a way that form borders. I like these defined borders in your quilt. I think Maddy will do a great job as a studio reporter. She should add her perspective on your sewing every now and then.. it will be fun to read.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to see the lone star quilt in person. MQ looks beautiful! Your garden always looks amazing! I saw those gorgeous sunflowers at a local nursery, opted not to buy them for deer in our yard.
Your baby quilt is so pretty! How much I love pink! And it seems you have a beautiful garden... lucky you! Here it's so hot that we can say goodbye to the lovely spring flowers!
ReplyDeleteLove that pink baby quilt. I think the Sawtooth Star block must be one of my favorites. I'm glad you tried making a zig-zag, which in the "modern world" is called a chevron. I'm putting chevrons in a quilt I'm designing for newer quilters who take my "Beyond" class. Beautiful flowers too. It's amazing how different the blooms are from where you are to where I am. Still, don't we both love the bright colors?!
ReplyDeleteOh I'd love that baby quilt in an adult size. It is yummy! Looking forward to seeing that finished Lone Star...
ReplyDeleteYour pink quilt is just too CUTE! love the simplicity and balance.
ReplyDeleteI bought B&W print fabric with words while I was in PA - I like it on the zig zag.
wow your quilter did a great job. I like how she did the star area and the backgound
lovely garden photos! I love black eye susans too :)
I love your girly pink quilt! That border frames the stars perfectly. Those zig zag quilts do look fun to make, could be fun for your next baby quilt. I'm swooning over the photos of your Lone Star, it's going to be so amazing. I really love the quilting pattern that looks like a mix of swirls, hearts and feathers. Your summer flower photos are always a treat.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt Kelly! I love little red riding hood too - so sweet.
ReplyDeleteKelly, I'd love to see your gardens...such pretty flowersj ust like your colorful quilts!
