The State of the Sewing Room

I have been working in sub-par conditions. Since the holidays I have been shoving things aside to work on what ever needed my attention.

I have things everywhere!

It's been a while since this floor saw a vacuum.

This is my work table, see what I mean?

There is an ironing board under all those quilts.

Workshop fabric from NOVEMBER!

It didn't take too long to put it into some order so I could at least get something done. I love this Mrs Meyer's Peony scented cleaner. My whole room smelled like spring!

I have lots of things going on. I am doing a Demo Day presentation to the guild next week. I like to prepare ahead of time so they get a good feel for what I am showing them. I like to have lots of samples to inspire them.

I love these baskets and think I will take these to work on at our retreat in March.

Sew Along Sampler blocks for another guild.....

I am making this quilt along with some friends. We are encouraging each other to stay on task. The goal is 1 a month. This is by Zen Chic and yes I bought the kit to make it simple.

I have a white board in my sewing room because believe it or not I forget what needs to get done!
How do you stay on top of things? Plus who doesn't like crossing off things on a list!

I am planning on having a tutorial for Monday, finger's are crossed. It will be a fun one.

I have heard that blogs may be on a come back. What do you think? The other day I crossed the 1 million views mark! I am not sure if that even means anything but you never know!

  1. I love having lists in the quilt room and getting to cross things off the list! Always a feel good moment! Your basket blocks are making me drool. Love them! Not sure if blogs are making a come back or not, but I sure love them, yours included.:)

  2. I'm a list girl but not lucky enough to have a white board - an Excel spreadsheet that shows me the list of projects in play and on the wish list, and where I am in the process (cutting, piecing, quilting, binding, etc.). I'm a list girl big time so there's no sweeter satisfaction than stroking something off of that list. And adding something else on, of course :D.

  3. Hi Kelly, Even though you say your room it messy, it looks like you're doing lots of sewing, so that's a good thing! My husband likes to see scraps in my sewing wastebasket when he takes out the trash - because he knows sewing makes me happy.:) Happy sewing and cleaning!

  4. LOVE the basket blocks - so sharp! And the string block as well. Such fab fabrics-you have some great low volume prints! I think your sewing room looks pretty good....you can still see the floor!
I prefer blogs to anything else....I love the stories and pictures and how-tos and even the comments! I find them most inspiring! Thank you for sharing your passion.

  5. Out of all the social media out there, I enjoy blogs the most! I start each day with some coffee and blog reading....and am always inspired by seeing what projects everyone is working on (your blocks are awesome!)...as well as learning a bit about the area where they live. Yet....I am guilty of not updated my blog often enough? lol! Maybe today....after some stitching...;-) Thanks for the heads up on the Peony cleaner....I can't wait for Spring! And yes....I'm a list maker....though usually on a note pad (where only I can see it)....lol!

  6. Ahh, but I love seeing a messy sewing room now and again. Makes me know I'm not alone. But golly, don't we sometimes wish we were knitters or something... where less muss and fuss happen? Your quilt blocks are sure pretty, and I like the bits of solid fabrics I'm seeing in them. Your white board is such a good idea too. Sadly, I have no wall space for one. As for "blogs making a come-back... no, I hadn't seen that! That’s hopeful. I do know that Bloglovin' is sending more followers my way - like three a week or so that are from SEX accounts! I HATE that Bloglovin' doesn't block these pervs. I just checked my blog stats and see that in 11 years of blogging, I just hit my 1000th post, and have had 1.5 million-plus views. Interesting info, isn’t it?

  7. You have a lovely sewing room, and I wish mine was that clean! I love all your blocks - so fun! Your Zen Chic kit has some great low-volumes included and the blocks look great. I really like your string-pieced star block! Your baskets are great too!
I don't have room for a white board, but I do make lists of what needs to be done. It helps me stay on-task, mostly. I love crossing off a finish best!

  8. I'm in the middle of going through stored, and moved across the country, boxes of ufo's from the last 20 years! So many projects, just packed away to start the next. Then moved here. Time to really make some decisions about what to keep or let go of.

  9. So many fun and colorful blocks - I love your baskets! I especially love the the mix in the backgrounds. adds so much interest.
Good for you for cleaning. I need to clean too - but I've been sewing instead.
The white board is a great idea. May have to steal that one. I get so easily distracted to the next shiny object in the SR. lol.
