Basket Quilt
I am in love with this quilt and I just spotted a mistake......can you see it? In my rush to finish sewing it I didn't even notice. Get out the seam ripper, or do I leave it?
The baskets are paper pieced and you can find them here on the blog Diary of a Quilter They were a lot of fun to make and easy if you are new to paper piecing. I wanted to change it up and make it a little different than the original so I added the flying geese which I love! If you look at the last post I was trying to decide between tan or gray geese. I wasn't feeling either one. I had a stack of solids on the table and the greens happen to be on top. So I cut a few out and played around with them. It pays to not put your things away.....
As you can see I pushed the limits of the green palette but I like how they work together. Some of them feel like they glow. I now know green really is a neutral!
Here is the hole all patched up! Upon further inspection I realized that the fabric is just worn out and is not going to last much longer. I guess a new quilt is in their future!

Love this basket quilt with the flying geese all around. I do not see a mistake.
ReplyDeleteThe geese in lower left corner are acting a bit independently but isn't that true in every flock? Love the quilt - the geeze give it some movement and the greens are perfect.
ReplyDeleteAll I can see is perfection!! I love this quilt Kelly, its so joyful! Great patch, it shows the quilt has been used and loved. What a great excuse to start planning a new quilt.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt...can't see any mistake.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt. Fun!!! I don't see any mistake and looked for quite a while. So no seamripper needed 😀

This is a lovely quilt. I did find 'the mistake' but it took awhile ( I won't spoil it by pointing it out). I would leave it as it is not that obvious.
ReplyDeleteQuick study but I don't see the mistake. The border really adds interest. Green a neutral? So is red? I'm developing a theory on this. Later: once I've pondered it some more.
ReplyDeleteOh, I see the uniqueness...not a worry & no need to change.
ReplyDeleteI see something....but not sure ifs it's intentional or the real mistake! Leave everything! It's a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for this finish Kelly ! Your quilt is just stunning like that !
ReplyDeleteIf you're afraid to see all the day the mistake (I think you forgot the seam allowance with the first line of baskets), you must sew it again but for me, all is perfect like this ! It will be unique ! :)
step away from the seam ripper... no mistakes here, just a wild and fun quilt. I can't see a thing wrong

The mistake is not very noticeable with the colors and patterns. If it were me though, I might rip it out and fix it just because I am somewhat of a perfectionist, and it would bother me every time I looked at it. But of course, the Amish did things like that on purpose, so it might look intentional. It depends on how much it bothers you.
ReplyDeleteThe baskets are so cute! I did not see any mistake. :) It is always good to keep trying other fabrics when what you have out isn't working.
ReplyDeleteYou simply must tell us what you think the "mistake" is! It looks perfect to me. 😄💕
ReplyDeleteOh! Oh! Baskets are TOO CUTE!!
ReplyDeleteKelly! me encantas las cestas,
ReplyDeleteel error quizás tu mirada va siempre allÃ,
pero es divertido como esta
saludos
I love this quilt too.. It's so fresh and happy. Looks perfect to me.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks better that way, the bottom row of geese makes a very nice "shelf" for the bottom row of baskets. A quilting teacher whose classes I attended for years called this a "design decision". She also said it's not a mistake if you can't see it while riding by on a fast horse. I think your quilt is so pretty, don't change a thing!
ReplyDeleteCharming baskets!
ReplyDeleteIf the 'mistake' (which I do not see) bothers you, then rip it out, otherwise, I think it is perfect.
I love unexpected inspiration! how fun this turned out. Love the solids.
ReplyDeletei can't see one single mistake funny.
I love when quilts get worn out - means they have really been loved.
The quilt is wonderful. I see the mistake and can't decide whether I'd rip or let it stay. I kind of like the quirkiness.
ReplyDeleteI love it and I wouldn't change a thing!
ReplyDeleteI give up, I can't find the mistake!
