VintageTuesday
As many of you know I love vintage things, both inspired and the real thing. Pyrex has released a line called Vintage Pyrex. While it does have a vintage feel, it is not as good as the real thing (the way it looks). I have the "real" blue polka dot bowl so I could compare. You can get these at Target but I could not find them in the store, only online. The good news is you can order them and they will deliver them to the store for free, no shipping!
This is a real vintage Florida dish towel that I used to make yet another Lola Pouch. I promise this is the last one. It is taller than the pattern directions but I could not bear to cut off the "Florida" or the palm trees. On the plus side I can fit a lot of things in it for my upcoming getaway. I even love that yellow on the flamingoes and decided the polka dots added to the vintage feel. Once I get the binding at the top sewn down I can fill up.
I really enjoy using vintage finds and will be doing more of this kind of sewing!
See you next week with a show and tell from our retreat. Let's see how many things I get done!
Kelly
You are right. Those new Pyrex bowls just aren't the same. I love the way you used the vintage towel! I have been collecting these for a few years, but haven't done anything with them! If only I could find my box of zippers!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I think the Florida one is the cutest....no, the ones you showed the other day, no....they all are!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Lola pouch! It has a very retro feeling to it! Great job! I, too, like to make things from vintage tea towels etc! My sister and I used on for a cushion a few years ago!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this, Kelly!Keep the Lola's coming!
ReplyDeleteNew Pyrex, or any reproductions- is never as good as the original. I'm blessed to have some original.
I can't wait to see what you make at your retreat!
LOVE--You go Vintage Girl!
ReplyDeleteYellow flamingos! Whodathought? Nice!!, I really like the Pyrex bowls. Just might 'need' them.
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage Florida towel as a Lola pouch! I collect vintage textiles, too and this is an inspired idea.
ReplyDeleteHey, why quilt now? You're on a Pouchin' roll! Each one is cuter than the next. Love using the towel, great idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome pouch!!! Love the black and white with it too - you're so good!! I just ordered the bowls, you're killing me! And the shipping was free to my house - yeah! I agree that the new ones just don't hold a candle to the real vintage, I just found the large Tulip bowl on ebay!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your Florida Flamingo Lola Pouch!! I've made cushions with some of my treasured vintage tea towels but I find it so hard to cut them up.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage stuff, too! That Florida pouch could not be cuter! Such a wonderful way to use a tea towel. Please don't stop making those pouches!!!
ReplyDeleteSWOON!! that is what I did when I saw your Florida bag. the towel is perfect. So fun to use vintage finds.
ReplyDeletelove those bowls too. IF only target wasn't 45 mins away.
