Gloom But No Doom

Yet another gloomy wintery Monday.  Our guild meeting was canceled tonight and was also canceled last month. March is going to have some awesome Show & Tell!
I have been pecking away on the long lost UFO. I will be honest this took forever because I need to stitch at night and I don't feel like it.

So now there are 3, the last one is not sewn to the blue one. I am thinking of doing a tutorial on the circles as I have gotten a lot of emails about them. Want to see? I will need to get my husband to help with the pictures.

Does your sewing room EVER look like this? I went in with every intention of trying to decide how to set my house swap blocks together. I dumped out a mostly low volume basket, made one block and decided to clean out my scraps, the basket was over flowing.

I got the reds down to about a half container, not bad. Can you guess which container had the most scraps? No not pink.

I have them all tidied up to sell at our quilt show, May 1 & 2 in Ludwig's Corner. I have them sorted by color and have at least one that is all Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I am thinking of doing a novelty fabric one too. People seem to like buying scraps and I will say I packed them up good!

Believe it or not this is an improvement! I still have a ways to go....

  1. It may have been gloomy outside, but your sewing room was filled with color. Fun scrap bags for your guild. I'm sure they'll be very popular. And yes, my sewing area can look like that too.

  2. I love your blocks. They are just beautiful. I can only hand sew at night, not machine. Oh how we love scraps! A lot of people still make I Spy quilts so a novelty bag is a good idea.

  3. Sorry to hear about the guild meeting cancellation. Bummer. But it looks like you were having bright, colorful fun in your quilt studio! Yeah, my room can look that bad (and worse) many times. It needs a good clean up right now, but I'm busy sewing.

Love your scrap bags! I think they'll sell well. Everyone seems to love scraps. I think a novelty scraps bag is a good idea too. I wish I could have the chance to buy one of your bags!

  7. Why is someone else's mess always neater than your own mess? Your scraps are always coveted!

  8. Great idea... One woman's scraps is another woman's treasure. I'm wondering how big/ small the pieces are that you put in the baggies? This is such a great idea for our next quilt show. How much would you suggest for a Baggie?
Thank you Lord for scraps, they make me pieceful.

    1. I could not email you directly so I hope you read this here. The scraps are all different sizes from 2"x 2" to larger chunks, whatever was in the basket. You never know what size people are looking for and appliquers use small pieces.

  15. Your little posy blocks look great. I started a quilt with that block years (maybe 15) ago, but did mine in different colors and yours is much nicer--and mine is in the closet. :) Maybe you'll inspire me to get to work on it again.

  16. yes, my sewing room looks like that at times. I also start on something and then decide that I need to clean up something. ;)
Last guild quilt show that I worked, we sold bags of scraps. I do not need any more fabric...but I had to buy some scraps.
