Creativity

What are some of the things that make you feel creative? Pretty fabrics?

a basket of scraps?

pretty fabrics?

a book?

pretty fabrics?

maybe your stash?

something whimsical?

something vintage?

something useful and simple?

nature?

All of the above apply to me and probably some more that I missed. My friends, blogs and guilds also contribute to that feeling of creativity.
I read a great post over at Quilty Folk and I have to say it really got me thinking. I will be going back to it again and again to read it. Check it out, especially if you are in a rut right now. There may be some things you have not thought about that will help, plus there are some pretty quilts to look at too!

  1. waaa, I actually am still in a rut after the move. I still don't have my sewing room set up after the painter or my design wall up.
I think sometimes we just don't have the mojo, but I know it will come back.
I am inspired by all the things you mentioned and especially other creative people like you.

  2. All of those things! But I agree with Barb ~ sometimes life events intrude and even when things settle down, it's difficult to find your old groove again.
Audrey's post was excellent ~ lots of food for thought and good tips to set the stage for creative work. I've reread it several times!

  3. YOU ARE ONE OF MY BIG INSPIRATIONS!!!!!! And I know you don't take this responsibility lightly. I just need to listen to your words of wisdom on time management…..oh, and purging my stuff. OK, not to read the blog reference….I know it will be worthwhile.

  5. Very nice post and good pictures. All of those things inspire me and sometimes as well the personality of the person I am going to offer the quilt to.

  6. I am in a semi-rut--maybe moving out a bit; but....mostly I think reading blogs and seeing different patterns in so many different color choices really inspires me. Like the Butterflies I am making--I saw a post of these, but in 1930's prints--instead of just going out and BUYING (again!!) those types of prints, I was moved to try to cut into my stash of batiks that have languished in my closet for years!! Lately, vintage items and landscape scenery makes me feel creative....lovely post--thanks, Julierose

  8. Thanks for the shout out! I LOVE the fabrics you use, always get me to thinking. Wish I could buy more vintage blocks and play with them. I think vintage and antique quilts remain some of my biggest inspiration.:)

  10. All of the things you mention - but especially seeing other people's work. I never want to make it their way, but always adapt it or change it to make it mine. Brilliant post. xCathy

  12. Love all your photos! Yes, all those things and more inspire me, including your blog! I usually have more inspiration than time to sew - that's my usual problem! Yes, I agree . . . Audrey did a wonderful post! Very insightful and thought-provoking. And it's filled with such good tips. I'll be reading and re-reading her post for quite a while!
