Whiney Wednesday
I wish I could say I was as happy as this little girl in the picture, not so. It is March 26 and it feels like January 7th! There is about an inch of snow on the ground and the wind is blowing 30 miles an hour!I am so over this winter....go away! Oops just saw some stray yellow threads on this, please ignore them.
This is the picture my granddaughter, Madison drew last Fall.
I took a nice piece of white fabric and traced the drawing onto it with my Frixion pen.
After a wobbly start, I was getting better.
I did take some creative license with the hair. I love the nose, a ?
I was too chicken to do the satin stitch on the lips.....
and the heart.
Overall I am pleased with my work. It has been a long time since I did any embroidery.
I think I will make some more from the other grandkids' drawings. Embroidery was one of those things I said I wasn't doing anymore......
Kelly
Well it's super cute. What a sweet way of making the memory last.
ReplyDeleteKelly, This is so gorgeous!!! You've stayed so true to the picture and captured its sweet happiness. My mum did embroideries like this of some drawings my brother and I had done and turned them into library bags. What will you use yours for? It's totally understandable that you're over the snow and winter. Surely it wont be too long before spring arrives on your doorstep.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's SO cute! Hang in there! You know that March is the "fake out" month. There will be a nice day and BAM...some snow! Doh.... Then warm again ... Fake Out! Nobody ever said Mother Nature was nice.... I'm whining with you sister! Solidarity!
ReplyDeleteI live in Illinois, boy do I know how you feel! I am a summer gal. I hope summer last as long as this never ending winter. This is such a sweet idea. You captured the picture perfectly!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. Madison is going to love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! You did a great job. Madison is going to love it. I bet you love it to.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the weather. We didn't get a big snow like you did, but we got snow again and it is cold. I am so sick of the whole thing...the cold, the snow, the wind chill, and worst of all winter coats. I hate winter coats. I need my sandals. :) It has to end soon right? Right? I am just going to say yes! Soon.
Just too cute and such a great idea. If I didn’t dislike embroidery so much I might think about doing this.
ReplyDeleteI like the title Whiney Wednesday. Thats what I have felt like today.
I think we are all in agreement about the weather! The embroidery is so sweet, what a fun way to preserve a true piece of art.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous. A lovely idea, too!
ReplyDeletehow super fun! What a nice tribute to Madison, I bet she loves it.
ReplyDeleteI still have some line drawings Hanna did at church when she was about 6, always wanted to do a red work with them.
It was blowing a stink her here all day yesterday and the house was so drafty - oy - I wasn't happy. took coco to town for a walk and got blown down the street :(
Adorable!!! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a Cute Block! Incredible memory gift for their children!
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! What a wonderful idea! When my grandchildren get old enough to draw I will do this!
ReplyDeleteI love the drawing embroidery. What will you do with it? Would be a nice gift for mommy (or you!) on a cotton dish towel. I do want to try that!
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute! Give up embroidery? How ? I have to say next to regular hand stitching embroidery is my favorite thing to do. I bet you're going to be hooked, again.
ReplyDeleteYou are just too creative girl!
ReplyDeleteSew. Much. Cuteness.
This is absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to preserve those sweet childhood drawings! Your embroidery is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! How about making it into a pillow for Madison's mommy...maybe for Mother's Day. I did somethng similar a few years ago with a drawing of an owl done by my grandson. It is such a treasure now...
ReplyDeleteThis is SUCH a cute idea! Last year during the summer my 7 yr old grand wanted to learn to sew and I thought I'd start her on embroidery which is all that I'd ever learned as a kid from my grandma. Well, I must have re-threaded her needle and untangled her threads a million times but finally she was done. ( Meanwhile the tea towel that I was doing was put away, unfinished! :) ANYWAY, I then framed it and she gave it to her grandma as a little gift but I took a picture of it and then uploaded it to one of those printing places online and had a little magnet made. So if you use any of these as gifts....say one is for the mama but what about the dad...then there is that option too.
ReplyDeleteAnd to be sure that I am clear...all that I know is the backstitch, ha ha ...but it is relaxing to do!
