Batik Give Away
I finally feel like I have my sewing mojo back! This is another quilt I made for our 16 x 24 challenge to show the ladies that you can piece something as well as applique.
To make it a little different I made the blocks into rectangles instead of squares. The quilting on the blocks are straight lines and some crazy lines in the borders.
I am not a huge fan of batiks (probably the only one in the world) but had some on hand and decided they would be attention getters. The colors are very saturated and bright.
I even gave it a pretty back!
I decided to just make a clean sweep of my sewing table and am going to give these scraps away. There are big pieces and small pieces, squares and rectangles and everything else in between.
Leave a comment, become a follower, if you aren't already and I will draw a name on Tuesday July 3. Everyone is welcome to enter just be sure that I have your email or I will have to pick another name!
Kelly
You aren't the only one who isn't crazy about batiks...they aren't my favorite either, but i have to say...that stack you have there has some mighty pretty colors!

My quilting teacher mentioned just this week that she doesn't like batiks - so you are not al one! I like your quilt, I like batiks and I like bright colours.

Oh my gosh. This is right up my alley. I have made a quilt almost exclusively of friends "throwaway" batik scraps. Just have to sew down the binding before I post pix! These are gorgeous!

They get little muddy for me. Clear colors and textures is what I like.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is pretty. I like the rectangles.
I like your batiks--sometimes I (shh--don't tell) put mine in the washer with a little bleach and it tones them down a bit....or even tea dye them to take that edginess off.....but mostly I buy pastelly ones...have a great 4th Julierose
ReplyDeletemy name is Barbara and I LOVE batiks LOL - thanks for the chance to play with your scraps - your quilt is too precious

Your little quilt looks much bigger, it's hard to tell the scale of quilts in photos sometimes. Maybe it's because your quilt has the oomph of a bigger quilt, it really is fabulous!! I'm not a huge fan of using batiks but I like seeing how other people use them.
ReplyDeleteOh my word, I LOVE batiks!!! Thank you for the chance! Your quilt is darling, so fun. I love your other work too, I peeked around. Like you, I love to quilt, garden, and cook. Definitely not enough hours in the day to squeeze everything in, but it is fun to try. :) pmooie@hotmail.com
