All I can say is if you missed this exhibit of red and white quilts, I have nothing but sympathy for you! It was a once in a lifetime experience and none of the pictures can capture the depth and beauty of all those quilts gathered in one place. Just the amount of time and creativity put into the quilts alone was awesome. I can't swear but I think all 651 were hand quilted.
My companions for the day...Cheryl, Terry, Jane, Sujata, Christine (we almost lost her in the exhibit, she blended in) and Nancy.
Even a basic quilt was spectacular!
This was a crib quilt. The blocks were about 4" big.
Here is some reversed applique with embroidery.

Of course there was some shopping.....we went to The City Quilter, which has expanded since I was there last.
I was very restrained if I do say so myself....
My brother in law David met us for dinner at a restaurant called Eataly. We had 3 different kinds of pizza that was excellent!
We were all tired at the end of the day, but happy we made the trek. We were still talking about the quilts on the ride home.....
This is what we woke up to this morning. Will spring ever come?

ReplyDeleteI flew out of NYC Thur, just when it started to rain. Wasn't the show amazing? I'm looking at other bloggers who were there and it almost seems surreal. I think they were all hand quilted too, that was the most impressive part of the show

ReplyDeleteThanks for posting your photos because I don't remember seeing the quilt that you said looks contemporary. It's really unique but there were soooo many quilts, I guess I just missed it. It was a great day and I'm sure I'll never forget it.

ReplyDeleteLove the post title!!! You had photos that I haven't seen, the simple squares quilt is so striking and the mini sail boat quilt is gorgeous!! The day wouldve been all the more special shared with friends. That last shot with snow is like a picture post card!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great photos of the exhibit! I was scheduled to go on Wednesday but had to cancel because of my Dad's health. I wish it had been there longer! What an amazing display. But I'm especially jealous that you went to Eataly! I hear the whole place is amazing! I like how Christine dressed for the theme!
