Ahhhh Spring

One of the things I miss the most about my kids being little is no more little league. All 3 of my boys played so we had a good 15 years of it. Now my grandson, Griffin is playing and it is so wonderful. The missed catches, running past the bases and watching the airplanes go by when they are playing in right field is just some of the fun.

Little brother Elliot, complete with stick in hand.....don't they always find a pointy one?

Tonight is Penn Oaks Guild night. We are hanging our challenge "Coffee or Tea and Me". I can't wait to see what everyone has created. We always get a good turnout. Come back tomorrow and I will post pictures.

I am bring a snack...Toffee Squares

This is an awesome Bed and Breakfast, called Angel of the Sea, that also has a cookbook. If you ever go down the shore, come to Cape May, NJ and stay here! I think it may be impossible during the summer but it is very cool. Lots of Victorian things and a great breakfast, just steps from the beach.

I will share the recipe with you.

Toffee Squares
1 c butter (not a diet dessert!) 1 c br sugar
1 egg yolk                               1 tsp vanilla
2 c flour                                  1/4 tsp salt
1-1/2 c of chocolate chips      1/2 c nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350. Combine butter, sugar, egg yolk and br sugar.
Blend in flour and salt.
Spread dough in greased 9x13 pan and bake 20-25 minutes or until lightly brown.
Immediately pour chocolate chips on top until soft and spread evenly over entire pan. Sprinkle with nuts. Cut bars while still warm. Enjoy!

  2. Cute grandsons! I miss those days too. Between all the kids we spent the weekends at the fields and enjoyed every minute of it.

Some of which was exclusively social.. My fondest memory is when my younger one was playing Tee ball. He would notice if I missed a single hit while he was playing and he would come running to me after his turn, " Mom, you were not watching me!"

Yes, it was not all about them.. Social aspect of it was great too!
    I miss those days!

Can't wait to see the photos of the guild challenge.

  3. You have such cute grandkids! I remember those days fondly, and the hats that were too big, and the grass stains on the polyester uniforms and somehow the little brother always came home dirtier than the baseball player! At least now as grandma you don't have to worry about getting them clean! How nice! Enjoy!
