Dot's Quilt

Dot who is a member of my Calico Cutter Quilt Guild, is an expert applique artist.

She has a quilt that she is not going to finish for various reasons.

She has asked myself and 3 other members if we would finish it and donate it to the guild as a raffle quilt in the future.

This is a daunting task as Dot's applique (and embroidery) is amazing to say the least.

Today we learned that she was taught by Jane Townswick and had quilts in 3 of her books!

It's going to be a beautiful quilt when it's complete.

Look at those reverse applique wings, so perfect!

I am up first and this will be my contribution, the Poppies block.

Lucky for me a good part of the prep work is done so I can get to sewing right away.
Dot I promise to do my best!

As a side note....to make blogging even harder I got a new computer and now I can't find my pictures every time I download them on Windows 10 any tips?????

Itsy Bitsy Blocks

I am working on a new very long term project. You make a block a day for 365 days. Easy you say?

Not when most of the blocks are 3" inches big!

It is majorly testing my skills, which is a good thing.

I am on my way out the door to work the sale. I will post more on this project later. Oh, those little purple squares are 1/2" !!!!!

Eclipse Day!

So it is about 2:24 pm here and it is strange looking outside. We are to be 70-80% at 2:45. While everyone keeps playing the song clip "total eclipse of the sun" I prefer Pinkfloyd's "and when the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon". It is quite the day!
I don't have any glasses so I can't look up, though the temptation is real......

My swap quilt is complete! I absolutely love it! I am so happy to have taken those blocks and turned them into something, rather than let them languish on my table.

The reds are all different which I think makes it so much more interesting than if they were all the same.

I used the bow tie blocks and the nine patches along the edges without thought as to where I placed them.

The crazy colors all go together and I love the wave quilting.

I love the texture. I am a person who likes lots of quilting in her quilts!

How cute is this fabric? I have wrapping paper that is this exact pattern. I follower contacted me and said it is in a fabric store where she lives (Washington state) and said how about I buy some for you?

Not only did she buy me the fabric, she gave it to me and sent it as pretty as a present. Thank you Jonna and I will be sure to pay it forward.
Quilters are the nicest people.
Got to go, it's almost here!

Lazy Summer Days End

Finally I have something to show after many months of no sewing. I love these trees and can't wait to finish it into a quilt. Most of the fabrics are Alison Glass but a few  are not. Many thanks to Cindy Z for figuring out this poorly written pattern that was in a magazine.......I imagine the pattern made by the maker is much clearer.

I am almost finished with the binding on my swap blocks quilt. Jamie long arm quilted it for me and she did a great job. I will show it when the binding is complete.

Leslie alerted me to the fact that The Quilt Block has the gorgeous Grunge prints with dots! There are many more colors if you are interested. Of course they look so much better in real life......if you need some call them at 610-363-0404 they will be happy to mail them to you!

I have been on a reading binge this summer. I read this incredible book many, many years ago when it first came out. I am re-reading it (I can't remember a thing!) so I can....

read the 2 sequels! I love finding a book with sequels that are already published!

This is our book club pick for next month. Has anyone read it?
