I do believe Instagram is a wonderful platform for sharing ideas and could be seen as a the shorter version of blogs; however, Instagram does not replace blogs by any means! Hope that makes sense. No matter how you cut it I/G is easier and faster however it lacks the personal feel to me. For me--I will continue to blog however it may not be as often. I am finding that the "need to keep up" with posts becomes stressful--so for now--I plan to cut down on what stresses me and find the joy in what I make. That does not mean I will not share on the blog but I do not want to feel obligated. I wish there was a way to post all in one shot--I/G and blog & F/B (I prefer private pages). Without blogs I would have never meet you! I follow quite a few blogs, both cooking and quilting. I learn SO MUCH from them and would feel so sad if they went away. I agree that FB got downright ugly with a lot of name calling and general bashing. I love Instagram, it is quite inspiring and generally happy. I originally signed up for FB to actually "meet" my cooking friends from my Cooking Contest website who we all only knew by name until then. PLEASE don't stop blogging Kelly! Your pieces are so cheery and beautiful (and I love seeing your family too).Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16359932310807851237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1118067118933182266.post-18387803948577684342016-11-28T08:35:46.414-05:002016-11-28T08:35:46.414-05:00You stirred a nest!

For that reason, I don't feel neglected when readers stop by, but don't leave a line. I don't do Facebook, but I am on Instagram. Also like you, I enjoy it for it's candy-like nature, but like candy, it doesn't stay with you like a good blog post. Funny to think of blogs as 'permanent'.<br />Short answer: no, I don't think blogging is dead.smazoochiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08716977786728589960noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1118067118933182266.post-70264498812583003112016-11-28T03:21:39.611-05:002016-11-28T03:21:39.611-05:00Kelly, I read every word you write on your blog an...Kelly, I read every word you write on your blog and a few others' blogs. I love to read blogs and I enjoy blogging but it is a lot of work and time. I don't always have the time to enjoy blogs the way I used to. There are fewer and fewer to keep up with though. However, I think during the election and following there were people who were mean to each other and I don't like that. I haven't looked on Facebook much for the last 6 months and am considering not following it at all because of the insanity and cruelty that people wreak on each other. I love Blogs. I don't have one but I truly enjoy seeing what others make. I also like when blogs create tutorials for those of us who need specific directions. I use FB some but rarely post. I am a member of some quilt groups on FB and it seems a way to keep up with others. I don't know enough about Instagram to say - tried it a little but was not sure of how it was working. I don't keep my blog up well and only feel that there are a very few who read it so sometimes you wonder what's the use but it helps me keep up with what I've accomplished and a timeline in my quilting world. That was a great question you put out there!! With so many people moving and not feeling connected, reading the morning blogs are a way to stay connected with a community. I like Pinterest, have never done FB, and still think about IG but haven't succumbed yet. I appreciate the work that goes into blogs--thoughtful content, beautiful photographs, and especially the sharing about process and problem solving--and try to show that in my comments and by joining in swaps and sew-alongs. What else can readers do to thank you all for what you do and to keep this a vital exchange? Blogs provide more information and insight from quilters and travelers and thinkers (the three categories of blogs I follow regularly;) Instagram gives me a quick fix of fun and inspiration; FB keeps me connected with my far-flung family and friends. I do have to remind myself to lead the life I want to lead and not let the outside noise from anywhere make me feel that I should be something more or something different. So keep on blogging, Kelly.
