KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE MY BLOW DRYER RUN!

Happy Monday!

It is a happy Monday today because I am all but finished with my Christmas shopping! I was determined to get it done before Thanksgiving and with the exception of a couple of gift cards all I have left to do is wrap up those presents.
This will give me more time to make some special gifts for my friends and family. How adorable is this pincushion. I am constantly amazed with the new ideas people come up with.

This is the book that the pattern is in. It sewed up very quickly and would be perfect for a last minute gift.

I am learning to use my time more wisely and cut out all these circles at book club the other night. I totally changed my mind about using them, but they are always there and you never know where they might turn up!

I am obsessed with the Flowering Snowball block. I think about working on it all day long! I can honestly say I have conquered my fear of curves and am thinking of all the possibilities that are out there in quiltland!

It has been years since I bought any new Christmas decorations. If anything I have been throwing out all the ratty, worn things that I have no interest in any more. I saw this today and thought how vintage, yet modern it looks.
This year I am hosting Christmas Eve and am going all out on the decorations and food, something I have not done in a long time. Once my kids were grown and gone it loses some of it's fun and luster. Now that the little kids are in the picture the fun is back.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is all about the family (ok the food too). My immediate family is now up to 17 and I love all the craziness the day brings. With a busy week coming up I wish you, your family and friends a Happy Thanksgiving.

Knock Knock

Is anyone home? I can't believe 2 weeks have flown by since I last posted anything.
How cute is this with that Elizabeth fabric by Tula Pink? I feel like it showcases it perfectly.

Stephanie

Today Stephanie, Cheryl and myself planned to work on these together.

Stephanie and Cheryl

Between the 3 of us we figured out how to make it (cutting it out took the most brain power for me) and tweaked it a bit to make it perfect.

This is the inside, it's called The Diva Wallet in case you want to make one for yourself.

Look at that almost perfect zipper. It went in very easily, don't be afraid.

I fussy cut my fabric and think it looks cool this way too.

This is my latest ongoing project, Flowering Snowball. The first two on the top left are completely sewn. This will be on the design wall until it is sewn together. It took a long time to get it the way I wanted it.

This is one block, yes curves! I cut them out using acrylic templates and a rotary cutter.

Here are 2 together so you can see how the pattern is made.

I am on a mission to try and get all my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving this year. I have found that if I don't procrastinate I actually enjoy them much more and may be able to sneak in some more sewing!

Pink and Green Basket

I have a lot of grand plans when it comes to quilting that don't quite get fulfilled. I loved this basket block and was going to make 12, once upon a time....
The star and tulip blocks were for another quilt altogether that just happened to be in the same colors. So what is one to do but to put them together and call it a day! All of them are hand appliqued so you know there is some time put in and it  would be a shame to waste them.

The flowers have a folk art look that I like and I love the floating berries too.

I only had to make one extra tulip block to make the border work. This pink fabric is a favorite.

I do believe in the original pattern the stars were pieced, but I thought that looked too hard and decided to applique them. Another UFO almost off the list! I have started the machine quilting and am very happy so far.
Both patterns are by Blackbird Designs just in case you NEED to know.

This came in the mail today. Hopefully tonight I will get to read it. My husband is still not feeling well and needs my love and attention (-:

Looking For Suggestions

My husband has been sick for the past 4 days. The stay in bed all day kind of sick. He nevers does that so you know it was bad. In between playing nursemaid and cafeteria lady, I finished up another mini hexie quilt. This time I used some of my Kaffe Fassett fabrics that I have way too much of in a giant bin. I used a 1" hexie instead of the 1 1/2" that I used in some other quilts.

I love the aqua binding that is subtle along with the background fabric.

I am working on trying to figure out a border for my Farmer's Wife quilt. I have had this idea stashed away for some time but I think it is too big.

I also sewed up some half square triangles and I am leaning towards this one as I think it anchors it more than the other one, but it is very predictable.
Tell me which one you like and I will take it under consideration!

In the meantime I can't stop making these adorable Mini Raspberry Kisses. They finish at 2"!!!!!
You can find the tutorial at Michael Ann Made. Just be warned you won't be able to stop once you start!
