Vase With Flowers

Vase With Flowers, it sounds so la tee da......the colors are not true, it is much brighter!

The background is Etchings, a MODA fabric by 3 Sisters. I quilted it before I fused down the shapes.

My machine quilting went pretty good. I used the batting Tuscany and love it! A tip about what color thread you use.....take the spool and draw out a small length, lay it across the fabric. It is an applique technique but works for this too. If you want it to stand out or blend in it will help you decide before you stitch.

Most of the featured appliques are Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I was undecided about the birds but went for what I thought would appeal to the masses. The quilt is going to be one of the raffle quilts at our quilt show this weekend. We have 43 quilts!

If you live nearby please be sure to stop in, it's a great show!

  10. Very nice bouquet of flowers and nicely quilted. Like the rough ends. Good idea to quilt the background first. It is a lot of work to change colours don't you think?
