Diary Quilt Tuesday #41

This block is how I have felt the past week, scattered, going in a million directions and  a little askew!
I think I need to "cut"  some things out of my schedule, hence the scissors in the center.

To top it off I made the block the wrong size.....I have only made 40......oh well as Tim Gunn says "make it work"! It adds to the whole theme of the block.

The quilting is a swirly design to keep with the confusion of things.

I can't believe it has been 11 years since the terror attacks. Like many people we all remember where we were that day. I was in charge of a workshop with my friend Suzanne. We had Becky Goldsmith of Piece O' Cake teaching an applique class, in a fire hall, how bizarre is that?
After some discussion it was decided we would go ahead with the class. Everyone was there and ready to go. Never, ever did we think the day would unfold as it did. May God rest their souls.

When I woke up today it was very eerily similar to that day, it was a Tuesday too. Bright blue skies, cool temperatures with no humidity. Thankfully it was a normal boring day......

  1. I was program chair at the time. I went to pick up Becky Weds morning for the guild meeting. Again it was like what do we do. She needed to get to FL for a cruise. It seems like yesterday.

  2. love your make it work block. what do you think of season 10?
I lived in Illinois 11 years ago but it was the same kind of day, sunny, clear and tragic.

  3. I feel like your block too, you've captured it so well in fabric. What a good reminder to be thankful for uneventful normal days.

  4. It was early morning in Seattle. I do get pretty quiet and my surroundings seem quieter too on this day.
The block is perfect for how you describe your days right now.

Okay, so how do we feel about Project Runway this season? Is it too catty this season or is it the same every year?

  5. I really like your block. I think cutting something sounds like a good idea if life is too overwhelming -- I've had to do it at different stages of my own life so I can definitely relate!

  6. I am feeling the need to cut something too. Maybe if I didn't waste so much time (can you say procrastination?) I could get it all done.
    Like the block.
I was at work 11 years ago on a day that looked just like today. They sent us home early and I spent the rest of the day watching TV coverage in horror.

  7. I like your block a lot, and I can sure relate to that feeling. You captured it well!

I didn't realize that you were quilting your diary blocks. Will you be doing the Quilt As You Go method of assembling this quilt, or do you have something else in mind?

Yes, 9-11 is a day to remember, and to be thankful that most days are uneventful.
