Diary Block Tuesday #29

The sun made a very bright and hot appearance after a very long absence this weekend. We have had a lot of rain and it is a glorious thing for the gardens but we could also use some nice sunshine now too.

I used 4 fabrics for the center to give it some movement and not feel flat. The quilting was simple but I think it works.

I am watching my oldest granddaughter, Fallon today and yes it is raining! Among the many things we did today, we started working on a Paint By Numbers Kit. It is HARD! I am not sure how this is going to turn out.......

but this is the picture on the cover. As long as she is having fun it will be beautiful!

My friend, Terry Kramzar spoke at Penn Oaks Quilt Guild last night. She was great and everyone loved her lecture "Inspired by Adventure". If you are looking for a speaker you would love her (yes I am biased)!

Some of you may remember this quilt of hers, which at this moment I can't remember the name of! Terry help! As you can see she is extremely talented and a lovely person too!

I know my blogging has been sparse but life has been busy lately, and not with quilting! I think by next week I should get back to normal, whatever that is!

    love your block.
how fun but HARD is paint by numbers. My mother used to love to do them and did a great one of Lincoln. I'll have pull that out of the attic and look at it!
Love Terry and her work! Wish I could have been there to

  2. I love your new header--is that a quilt you made? It looks like a painting!! Those paint by number kits are very fussy--small, tiny places to fill in needing a very steady hand!! Fun, though. Your block is very cheery!! Julierose

  4. Like Barb, my Mother used to do the paint by number also. I remember Blue Boy hanging in our dining room and its equivalent female version.
So happy Terry made it to Penn Oaks. What's not to love?

  7. I have never tried paint by number! Missed out on something good I suppose? I guess you are never too old to try it. On my list to do this summer :)
Terry's quilt is fabulous. Makes me wonder every time I see her quilts.. How does she do that!
Your Happy Sun block is cute! And, I love the picture in the header. Is it a painting?

  8. The sun is shining here at the moment but who knows what the weather will look like in half an hour! We had a month;s worth of rain in 36 hours over the weekend! WM spent all day Saturday draining his fish pond (to permanently remove it) and it filled up again on Sunday!

That is a pretty picture and, you're right, as long as Fallon is enjoying the process, it doesn't matter what the results look like.

  11. What a wonderful new header, it's so calm and summery. What a wonderful sun. There's a line in a song that say " I love the sun so much if I could grab I would hug it", Your sun makes me think that. That painting looks difficult but it's all about having a go, one brush mark at a time. Terry's sunflower quilts knocks me off my seat every time I see it.
