Here is a little bit of background information on Cheryl.
What is your favorite part of quilting?
I have many favorite parts of quilting. It's hard to choose just one. Coming up with designs heads the list. I love doing the research whether it's through travel or visiting museums or perusing books. Then choosing the fabrics and beginning a new project is so exciting.
Where do you think quilting is headed, do you see any trends emerging?
I think quilting is growing in many directions right now. But I see 2 trends. One is geared towards new and young quilters. The patterns are not very complicated and they make use of retro novelty prints. The other direction I see is towards more hand stitching.
What are your favorite colors?
I love blue and white. I also love copper, which maybe related to my red hair. Mixing copper and black and other neutrals is a wonderful color palette.
Do you have a favorite quilting tip?
My favorite tip that I share with my students is to not be paralyzed by perfectionism. You will be able to see improvement in every quilt you make. The more you make the more you will improve.
How do you decide how much fabric to buy when you see something you love?
I never end up buying enough fabric. I'm still trying to figure this one out.
What is your least favorite part of quilting?
Truly, I love it all.
Any chance we will see another book from you?
I am working on another book. It is very different than Quilt Fiesta, but that's all I can say right now.

I really do hope that hand stitching is making a comeback.

Thanks for some nice info. about Cheryl. I find my self thinking more about hand stitching as well. I love the solid type quilts with big stitching and have it in my head.
I'd love to win this book! I teach in an inner-city mostly hispanic school and I think the kids would appreciate a quilt in the classroom that reflects their culture! ;-D Thanks for the opportunity....

I love your special tip! I gladly show my very first quilt to anybody. I still love it, despite piecing and quilting being very haphazard, no matching seams, chopped off points, some extremely attractive and unintentional pleats on the back, and I bet it wouldn't hang straight. But it's lovely and warm (all flannels) and the colours very soothing. It's a perfect comfort quilt.

OMgoodness! Paper Flowers! I used to get those at Six Flags when I was a little girl. I had forgotten all about it. I love the copper and black tip! Some of my favorite colors.

I was so anxious to win the book that I kept looking and looking for the posting at midnight on the 22nd. Then when I couldn't find the post I got busy and ... Wonderful book and I would most definitely love to have it on my shelf. It is truly amazing how much beautiful inspiration there is in the world we live in. i'm surprised at the idea of a move toward more hand work. I see that in knitting, but in quilting, everything is still moving toward all the pre-cut strips which limits creativity as far as I can see.

Bravo!!! Being Mexican myself (I know, my name is not Mexican but, I promise I was born and raised in Mexico), what can I tell you... Grew up surrounded by the beauty and color of Mexican tiles. I have been thinking of making a quilt for my hallway matching the old tiles that line the floor. This would be a wonderful opportunity to find out how I translate floor tiles into quilt blocks.
I have been known to take photos of beautiful floors but have never actually made a quilt from one! Sounds fascinating!

I am lucky enough to live in AZ, only a few hours from Mexico. I know we have our problems but I personally love to visit Puerto Penasco. We have made many fine friends there. I especially love their art-especially the bold colors. I would love to have a signed copy of this book.
