Good Bye and Good Riddance!

This post is a little personal, thanks for reading.

I can honestly say this has been the worst year of my life. I do think of myself as some one who sees the glass half full but this year has surely tested that optimism. In June a tree fell on my head and really changed my life.

I used to love a good summer thunderstorm, now they make me scared. Who doesn't love trees? Now I look at them as the source of a lot of pain. I am grateful my niece Caty who was with me was not hurt, that was the only good thing that happened that day. I feel like I will be in therapy forever to get back to normal and even that is not a guarantee.

My father in law Bob, died after a long battle with heart disease, two weeks later my brother Duffy died at the age of 38. Relationships of people I love have broken up, serious illness has come to friends and family members. I am now waiting for the plague to hit!

I tried hard to find some good things.....I did have the love and support of good friends and family, I started a blog which has been great fun and has helped me feel somewhat connected when I was house bound and my wonderful  husband has had the patience of a saint and never complained. These are the only highlights of my year. So good bye 2010, and I am so glad you can never come back!

This morning I read this quote and I think for all of us who sew it was most appropriate......

Time is a dressmaker who specializes in alterations.      Faith Baldwin

Welcome 2011!!!!

  1. Hi Kelly,
I hope you and your family have a healthy, happy, peaceful New Year. I love your blog - it is inspiring to me - you do such beautiful work. Sewing is my escape, my joy, my happiness and I hope you are well as soon as possible to fully enjoy the benefits of this wonderful craft.

    Happy Stitching!!!

Hope the new year brings nothing but the very best to you and your family.
Beautiful quote.. yes, it applies to all of us!
    Hope to see you soon!

  5. You have survived a very hard year. You made it through. Now for a fresh new year. Wishing you the best 2011!

  6. I hope 2011 is better for you. So sorry for all your losses.

  7. I think the new year is going to be full of wonderful surprises!!! I love the new header on the blog....very "springy" and inviting!!!

  8. Girl your year sounds like mine! I so hope you are doing okay. I can't imagine a head injury. I've often said that I think God needs a new secretary up there....or else my paperwork is mixed up with someone else's. Sounds like you need to have a talkin' with her too.
Sending you a hug and prayer for a Happy Year all the way through!

  9. 2011 has got to be better for us all! I'll take that new secretary. We'll put last year behind us, especially since Honeysuckle Pink is THE color for Spring. I love you K-Mix. Happy New Year.

  10. Happy New Year Kelly. Here's hoping 2011 is a good one for you and your family!

  11. Hi Kelly, I hope the New Year is kinder to you and your family. It sounds like you have had more than your share of troubles.
Although, I am glad it pushed you to start a Blog because It is very inspiring and I enjoy reading it tremendously.

    Happy 2011!

  12. Whew, your year was loa-ded! I will join you in a glass FULL of good stuff!

  13. I hear ya on goodbye to a bad yr.I am so sorry to hear of the things that were not good.

  14. I hope things get better this year. In early October my husband had a TIA stroke. Spent a few days in the hospital and went home seemingly good as new. In mid November he had a more severe stroke and was in the hospital five weeks and has been in a skilled nursing facility for two weeks now with no end in sight. He is paralyzed on his left side. We have hope but no guarantees. Our lives have changed forever as I sense yours has. I will be thinking of you and wishing you well.

  15. Kelly, seeing that car made me sick. Thank God you and Caty are still here. So sorry for the loss of your brother and father in-law. Wishing you a healthier New Year and continued recovery. love joanne

  16. Blessings for 2011, to YOU and yours! Isn't stitching therapeutic and balancing? I often times think, hmmm, if quilts could talk... Peace and piece, Kelly. ; )

  17. I feel the same about 2010 and have been surprised to read similar sentiments in many bloggers' new year's posts. May 2011 bring some peace to all of us! Happy new year, Kelly.
